We are a private, non-profit, no-kill 501c3 animal shelter serving Southern Franklin County since 1973. We receive no funding from state or local government for all the necessary services we provide, so we rely exclusively on donations from our generous supporters. For 2022, we have maintained a save rate of 94% for all animals that have come into our care. We have done this through TNVR of commun

ity cats, providing a pet food pantry for those most in need, offering behavioral consultation to pet parents, and growing our foster network, especially for kittens who are often too young to survive in a shelter environment. We thank you for your support in our mission to promote the well-being of animals and our community through education, care, adoption, and outreach.

We have a happy home update from Izzy!
This sweet girl found her furever home and is loving the princess treatment. Izzy enjoys her car rides, especially when she gets a sweet treat! Her furever family gave her the love and patience she needed to break out of her shell. They couldn't be happier to have found each other! ❤️🐾

Ales for Tails is back for its 4th year! Nominate your pet for a chance to be on a Rough Edges Brewing beer can!

NEW THIS YEAR: we will have 2 separate categories. 1 category is for all the dogs and the second category will be "No Dogs Allowed" for all our feline, feathered, barnyard, and scaled friends

Now through June 30th you can nominate your pet at the link here https://antietamhumanesociety.org/ales-for-tails-contest/ for just a $10 donation/pet. You are welcome to nominate as many pets as you'd like. Please, only one pet per photo.

Round 1 of voting will begin July 1st. We can't wait to see all your pets!

Friday Spotlight! 🚨🚨
Meet Oliver!
This handsome pup came to us after his previous owner was no longer able to care for him. But Oliver isn’t letting that bring him down, he still hopes to find his furever family!
This energetic pup would love a home to give him lots of pets and love! This intelligent boy has people and leash manners. This sweet pup doesn’t show well in his kennel, but once he is out of his kennel he will be your best friend. Sometimes when he is playing he forgets his size and can be a little rough. Oliver is very dog friendly after living with 2 other dogs in his previous home. We have yet to see him with cats, so he would need cat tested before going into a home with them. In Oliver’s previous home he got along great with the kids in the home. If this adorable man sounds like the one for you, you can put in an application today!

We are currently looking for a foster for her. Frannie gets overstimulated while at the shelter ,and she needs somewhere she can get her wiggles out and settle. Frannie has alot of puppy behavior and would need a home with structure.
This sweet girl came to us recently and is hoping to find her perfect match!
Frannie loves to play with toys and chase them! She is still working on her leash manners, but is a fast learner. This intelligent girl is learning words like "sit", "paw", and "down". Frannie loves getting pets, and giving lots of kisses. She would do best in a dog and cat free home. If you would like to meet this girl, you need an approved foster application!
