We are a private, non-profit, no-kill 501c3 animal shelter serving Southern Franklin County since 1973. We receive no funding from state or local government for all the necessary services we provide, so we rely exclusively on donations from our generous supporters. For 2022, we have maintained a save rate of 94% for all animals that have come into our care. We have done this through TNVR of commun

ity cats, providing a pet food pantry for those most in need, offering behavioral consultation to pet parents, and growing our foster network, especially for kittens who are often too young to survive in a shelter environment. Happy Saturday Caturday to our current free roaming kitty, Mallory! ❤
Mallory did an excellent job posing for our volunteers so they could get a couple of snapshots of her, and Ms. Mallory would love to continue being a star for all of her new adoring fans!

Katniss is another one of our long term kitties who have had no interest after coming to us in March 2024! 😢
Katniss is definitely a kitty that is a little bit of a 'work on progress' as the shelter environment has really prevented her from shining as the kitty we know she can be. A quiet home with plenty of places to hide, and plenty of patience would be the best fit for Katniss! Now, when she doesn't think anyone is watching her, Katniss is a big lover of toys! Anything that crinkles, jingles or full of catnip are all pretty rad in Katniss' opinion. She is very hesitant to accept pets and attention of any kind, so a slow approach to affection is always the best with her.
Katniss came into us with several other cats and having a kitty friend in her home may help bring her out of her shell! We would not recommend she go to a home with dogs or young children who will not understand her need for space.

Like many other shelters/rescues in the area, we are currently overflowing with kittens!
Kitten season came fairly late this year, and unfortunately brought us many, many kittens and cats to try and find space for. Between our foster homes and physically here at the shelter, we cannot keep up with the amount of felines that people continue to find and try to bring in. If you have found kittens, please be sure they are in actual need of help before trying to bring them into human care. Many times, especially with very young kittens, a momma cat is not far away to continue providing for her babies!
Or, if you have found kittens that are in need of immediate assistance, please consider either fostering them for us or have a friend/family member/etc. help out so they are not at risk of disease here at the shelter! Summer is always a very tough time for shelter/rescues and are feline residents, and we truly cannot provide for as many of them as we do without the help of our dedicated fosters!

If you have stopped in for a visit recently you may have gotten to cuddle with Laverne in our cattery!
This happy go lucky girl came to us in December 2023 and unfortunately has not had much interest from potential adopters. 😢
When she first came to us, Laverne was a timid kitty who wasn't too interested in or fond of her human friends. With some time and extra loving, she has become an extremely goofy and outgoing kitty! She is always one of the first to greet cattery visitors, and when she isn't bouncing all over the place playing with toys, she enjoys curling up for a nap in a cat tree. Laverne has done well with other cats, but we have not seen her with dogs. She has also gained a newfound acceptance of her young human friends since being in the cattery and would not mind children in her forever home!
If you think Laverne could be the girl for you, be sure to stop by and visit with her. Or, feel free to share so we can find Laverne her forever home before she reached her 2nd anniversary of being with us. ❤️

We still have an assortment of cats that are looking for barn/working placement! Most of these kitties prefer to keep their human buddies at a distance and are much better suited to life with little interaction. The only exception to that are the two brown tabby boys who don't mind a pet or two when it is time for them to eat.

Patton had a blast while out and about with our awesome volunteers the other day! 🐾
Patton is another one of our pups who has been here for 2 YEARS now and has never gotten his chance outside the kennel, in a home. 😢
His kennel behavior compared to when he gets to hang out with his human buddies is very different! Patton is a perfect gentleman when he goes on little daytrips and rides super well in the car! This handsome boy has a pot of anxiety at the shelter and that doesn't always show in the best of ways, but we know if given the chance he would thrive in an active home who would want a cuddly, playful pup!
Patton loves his toys of all types, but stuffies typically don't stand a chance against him. In fact, he tends to like his toys so much that he likes to carry them on his walks with him. Recently, he has also gotten more and more fond of the pool and going for a dip in the creek, as well!
We have tried Patton in doggy playgroups and they have been a little hit or miss. Any potential doggy pals in Patton's life would need to come in and have a meet-and-greet before he would go home. He would do best in a cat free home and a home with older children.

Happy home update from Leo Woody, previously Woody! ❤️
This handsome tabby boy wasn't on our adoption floor long and we are so happy to see he is settling himself in so well already! Thank you so much to his wonderful adopters for welcoming him into their lives!

Here is what they had to say about how this cutie is doing already!:
"Hello! Our family adopted Woody (now Leo Woody) last week and he is fitting in perfectly! He's being so respectful yet playful towards our 13 year old and it's so much fun to watch him get the zooming. Thank you for giving us the opportunity of adding him to our house. He is well loved already!"
