URGENT NEED FOR FOSTERS!

We have two senior female Goldens that each need a foster home.

They are 7 and 8 years old, not spayed. They have lived with other dogs their whole lives but are not getting along with other dogs since coming to us so they need to be moved ASAP, each to their own home.

THANKS TO EVERYONE ... AND ANOTHER ASK!!!

Thanks to everyone who stepped forward to offer help with finding Penny a new home. I'm thrilled to report that she is now in her forever home and will be loved and spoiled like crazy!

While we are thrilled that Penny and her blind sister, Ellie, are now in their forever homes, we are still in need of foster or foster-to-adopt homes for their two sisters, Pepper and Betty who are 8 and 7 respectively. They are wonderful and loving girls who need to go to separate homes; in addition, Pepper must be in a home by herself as she doesn't really like to share and this can be a source of conflict when she's with other dogs. Pictures below are of Pepper on the left and Betty on the right.

URGENT REQUEST FOR FOSTER FAMILY!.

Meet Penny, a gorgeous 7-year old Golden Retriever who is in need of a very special foster home.

Penny and her furry sisters Ellie, Pepper, and Betty were surrendered to us this past weekend. Their family could no longer care for them so they reached out to us for help. We have been able to find foster and/or foster to adopt homes for the other girls but Penny's situation is a little different in that she has some medical and emotional issues.

Penny has a wonderful personality that is starting to shine through. Her new foster family will need to help her to continue to build her confidence so that she can be the dog she was meant to be. She is somewhat timid and likes to be in smaller spaces that are a bit more confined though she can be coaxed out to explore the house. and is happy to cuddle up and receive lots of pets. She is excellent in the house and can be left alone for a few hours with no problem.

Unfortunately, Penny has a medical issue that our vet has said cannot be completely fixed but may be able to be improved somewhat. You see, Penny probably spent a fair amount of time in her crate and has a lost a lot of muscle tone making it impossible for her to do stairs. She can handle maybe one or two but definitely not a full flight. Upon extensive exam, the vet feels that the issue has a neurological component as well, complicating the situation even further. Ideally, her new foster home will be on one level with very few stairs to reach the outside. A fenced yard is a must as she does not walk on a leash at all.

We know this is a big ask but we need to help this sweetheart! If you think you might have the time, energy, and space requirements to foster Penny, please send me a private message or email me at [email protected] so we can set up a time to talk. She's currently located in Bergen County, NJ. Ideally, we need to get her moved within the next few days.

In June, we had extreme heat and in October, the venue had been damaged by another group which resulted in us being canceled by the park association. Unfortunately, not only were we unable to spend time with all of our friends and their dogs but we were unable to hold our silent auction and 50/50 raffle which are our biggest fundraisers of the year. I am so sorry to have to inform everyone that our reunion which was scheduled for this coming Saturday, October 5th, has to be cancelled due to a problem which has occurred at the venue, North Branch Park.

Brent was informed this morning by the parks association that during a recent horse show at the park, much of the grass around the pavilion was destroyed. In addition, construction began this week on widening the roadway so parking and use of the restrooms would necessitate participants walking through the construction area. The parks association is very concerned about trip and fall hazards so they informed us that the site would be unavailable for use.

We did try to find an alternative site but at this late date, that was just not possible so we will have to cancel.

The entire Board is frustrated and disappointed but there is nothing we can do except hope that we have better luck in 2025!

Again, I am so sorry. We were so looking forward to seeing everyone and catching up with all of the hoomans and doggos. Paws crossed we will see you in 2025!

Many thanks to everyone who came out to support our “Pins for Paws” fundraiser today! As always, we had tons of fun, a lot of laughs, and raised money for the precious Goldens that are surrendered to us.

Great to see so many of our volunteers and adopters!
