📢 Important Update from the Betty Walden Animal Shelter

We’d like to inform our community that a security camera will be installed soon at the shelter. This is a proactive step we’re taking after noticing some changes in behavior among a few of our dogs.

Our number one priority is always the health, safety, and well-being of the animals in our care, and we want to make sure they are protected at all times—even when we’re not right beside them.

🐾 We kindly ask that visitors do not feed or give treats to the dogs through the fence, unless you have asked the DCO for aprovel. While we know it comes from a place of love, certain foods can make the dogs sick, and unapproved treats may cause behavioral issues or allergic reactions.

📣 Zara is Ready to Leave the Shelter Life Behind! 🐾💖

This beautiful, bright-eyed girl has spent her time at the shelter, and now it’s her turn to find the loving home she deserves.

Zara is full of life, love, and cuddles. She’s always smiling, always ready for some attention, and from everything we’ve seen—she’s potty trained too!

Her heart is big, her spirit is strong, and she’s more than ready to leave the kennel behind and be part of a real family. Let’s get this sweet girl out of the shelter and into a forever home. 🏡💕

🐾 DOG VACCINATION SCHEDULE 🐾
Keep your pup protected at every stage of life!

🐶 Puppy Vaccinations

(Starting at 6–8 Weeks)
Age Vaccines
6–8 weeks 🦠 Distemper, Parvovirus (DAPP/DHPP - 1st dose)
10–12 weeks 🦠 DAPP/DHPP - 2nd dose💉 Bordetella (Kennel Cough – optional)
14–16 weeks 🦠 DAPP/DHPP - 3rd dose🦠 Rabies (required by law)
12–16 weeks 💧 Leptospirosis (optional, often recommended)

🐕 Adult Dog Vaccinations (1 year and older)

This female pit mix was found on Ridge Road in Hammondsport, NY.

She has no tags and is not microchipped.

If you recognize her or if she’s yours, proof of ownership and current rabies vaccination is required for pickup.

🚨 Dog Sighting Alert 🚨
This pup was just spotted on County Route 87 heading toward Hammondsport. The sighting occurred just before West View Produce on the Wayne side.

If anyone sees this dog, please contact the Dog Control Officer at 607-242-7000 immediately.

Let’s help get this dog home safe! 🐾❤️

📍 Last seen on Fleet Road, near North Urbana Church, in the Hammondsport area.

🐾 Kira is a 16-year-old female Husky/Rottweiler mix
🔸 Color: Black and tan
🔸 Wearing only a tick collar
🔸 Partially blind, struggles to walk
🔸 Has some dementia
💔 She is very loved and needs help to find her way home.
