Echo and Schatzi have been having such a blast out on the lawn lately—chewing on every stick they can find like it’s their favorite new toy! It’s honestly adorable watching them happily break the sticks into little pieces… until I started wondering if it was safe. Turns out, chewing on random sticks can actually be pretty risky for dogs, with potential problems like dental injuries, choking, intestinal blockages, or even poisoning from certain types of wood.
So, I decided to do something about it and got them these “Dogwood Chews from Outward Hound”. They look and feel like real sticks but are made just for dogs to chew safely. As a pet sitter, it’s such a relief to know I’m giving Echo and Schatzi a safer option—and one less thing for me to worry about while they’re in my care. Win-win!
Just a friendly reminder from one dog lover to another—always check if the branches, leaves, or roots in your backyard are safe for dogs, even if they look innocent. You never know which plants might be harmful, and it’s better to be safe than sorry when it comes to our furry friends!”
If your pups love to chew on sticks too, definitely check these out. It’s made my life (and theirs) a whole lot easier!
