🐾 Dr. Mallen Visits Polk Hustlers 4-H Club! 🐾

This weekend, Dr. Mallen had the pleasure of presenting to the local Polk Hustlers 4-H Club, sharing insights into the world of veterinary medicine! 🩺🐶

She discussed the path to becoming a veterinarian, what a typical day looks like, and even shared some exciting cases from the clinic. The highlight? A hands-on suturing lesson using bananas! 🍌✂️ The 4-H members got to practice their skills and learn just how precise and delicate veterinary work can be.

We love inspiring young minds and supporting the next generation of animal caregivers! 🐾💚

✔️Do you understand the true reason we recommend "Rechecks"?

👩‍⚕️Remi's amazing owners noticed that Remi was squinting his eyes and seemed painful. His eye pressures were higher than usual which is quite painful and can be a serious and urgent situation. After making sure there were no scratches or ulcers, Remi was prescribed eye medication and instructed to return a week later.
Dr. Mallen rechecked Remi's eye pressures last week and they were normal!

⏰Had Remi's eye pressures not normalized and continued to worsen, there is risk of optic nerve and retina degeneration, even blindness.
Remi's owner had seen great improvement after starting the medication but without Dr. Mallen's evaluation to confirm, we would not have known if the eyes were worsening or not.

📣Some people may 'think' they're better and decide not to come in for the recheck but the issue may still be looming in the background, only to return much worse and cost much more to resolve.

💞Most importantly, Remi is feeling much better! He was the BEST lab and wagged his tail during the entire exam.

Avenue of the Saints Animal Hospital in Waverly opened its doors on October 20, 1994, the answer to the dream of Dr. Phyllis Frost. The modern facility was established with the idea of comprehensive medical and surgical care for animal patients in mind. The hospital contains a full laboratory and pharmacy as well as radiology and surgical areas. Our services also include endoscopy, ultrasound, and reproductive services.
