It's Pet Poison Awareness Month! Let's keep our furry friends safe by securing potential poisons in our homes. Common culprits include cleaning products (detergents, disinfectants), seemingly harmless items like plastic wrap and foil (choking/blockage risk!), and even certain foods. Keep ALL hazardous items locked away or high on shelves. Clean spills immediately and keep pets away until the area is dry. Be extra vigilant in the kitchen! Chocolate (especially dark), xylitol (artificial sweetener), grapes/raisins, and onions/garlic are all toxic to pets.
When in doubt, contact your vet or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center. A little prevention goes a long way in protecting our beloved companions!
