It’s been a while since we have posted on our boy’s page. Life gets so darn busy all the time. JAM had his teeth checked by the equine dentist yesterday. To our surprise, especially for his age, he had quite a few sharp points on each side, upper and lower. So he got his happy drugs, a power float, and he did great! Lee was quite impressed with our boy, as he used to work on some of the horses at Pratt Farm, and remembered Kijken well. Got some beautiful photos under the shade tree in the paddock at breakfast this morning. JAM and Maryah did a short lunging session, and then took to the open road on a long-lining session! All in all he did pretty well and stayed pretty brave, except for the street signs...lol. He was pretty sure they might jump out and get him. But he trusted Maryah enough to let him know it was ok, and gave no sign of balking or wanting to turn tail and run away! Just love this big boy so much and couldn’t be more proud of him ♥️♥️♥️

We started our handwalking phase of rehab. 5 minutes per time. Then every 2 weeks, because we can't get there every day during week, we can increase by 5 minutes til we're up to 45 minutes. So still going to be a long process. But he is not lame at all and is picking the foot up and placing it with no toe dragging. The wound itself is completely closed with only minimal puffiness around the upper ankle. Thinking we can bring it down with a few sweats. Although we're not out of the woods yet, I am guardedly optimistic about the final outcome. :)

Haven't been on here for a while. Sorry guys. Mr JAM is still tolerating his stall rest, although I think we're getting close to the last straw phase. He really has been a champ so far. Only 1 tiny dime-sized spot still open on his leg. The rest has closed nicely, and he even tolerated getting his feet trimmed a couple weeks ago. Hopefully ultrasounding tendon at beginning of November, and if everything checks out ok, we can possibly start the long rehab/hand walking work.

JAM still doing ok on stall rest. His wound is finally closed, so hopefully we'll be able to get his Kimzey splint back on soon to protect the ankle from hyperextension. He is showing signs of being sick of it though. Been kicking up his heels lately sometimes! So Tracy just yells at him, "four on the floor mister!" So he now looks forward to his scratches with the plastic pitch fork!! He LOVES it!!

Haven't been on here for a while, but have been busy doing bandage changes and now treating Jazz and her medical complications. The wound is finally got a good scab on it and seems to be closed. Hopefully in the next few weeks we can have it comfortable enough to get the Kimzey splint back on so we can better protect that Extensor tendon. This has been and will continue to be such a long process. But we're hoping at the end we will have a sound, competition boy. Rough outline will be ultrasound check of leg first part of October, and if clear, can start the 2 month process of hand walking and physical therapy. We are on day 106 of stall rest since injury in April. JAM's stall looks like a juvenile romper room with all his bottles, jugs, jolly balls, hanging salt rocks, and other assorted toys to help keep him entertained! He really is doing pretty well for a full of zest youngster who's been confined this long. A special thank you to our barn owner Tracy Herides-Blake for keeping a close eye on him when we can't be there.

Welll. Since my younger mother injured herself and can't ride for another 5 or so days, I might as well post something. I was being worked last week on Wednesday ( I think, but sometimes I don't pay attention on anything but food) and my mom got on me twice, she said I did good. The only thing I can't do is back up on her, I can't help backing up, I get confused on why she's up there and not down by me. It's a really confusing process. Well after that, she did the worst thing a horse can have done to him done. She flysprayed me. It's is the most appalling thing ever, flyspray kills. But, I braved up and could stand it for a few sprays on my legs and body. Meanwhile, I accidentally bumped my mom's helmet thingy that was hanging up with my butt, and I accidentally stepped on the inside of it and cracked and crushed it. Woops :o Hehehe

My mother got on me for the first time on Thursday! She said I was really good for her. I guess I stood good and was a little unsure but she said it was okay since it was the first time with someone on my back. I was more concerned on where my supper was and why I wasn't eating it yet!
