We are on baby watch, anxiously awaiting the arrival of our foal. Sizzling Hot Boons x Ima Royal Eyed Blaze. Blaze hates that she is alone and her friends are still out roaming the pasture, but they come visit her throughout the day. Cameras are set up for remote monitoring and for my constant worrying (its my first foal cut me some slack). 😅

HUGE shout out to Tien Quarter Horses for such a great experience with our first breeding & equine pregnancy. Highly recommend!

In other news, we are expecting a foal in about a month. This foal will be a half sibling to CJ (Sizzling Hot Boons out of Two ID Sweet Jack), the filly we bought from Tien Quarter Horses. This foal is bred Sizzling Hot Boons (Tien Quarter Horses) out of IMA Royal Eyed Blaze. We could not be more excited for this foal to arrive. Stay tuned for updates.

I wanted to jump on here and brag a little on our 2 y/o Calamity Jane (CJ) we bought from Tien Quarter Horses. Back in December she injured herself. We worked closely with Southwestern Veterinary Services and have had the best outcome. Injury happened on 12/8/24, initially tried to stitch back together hopeful to allow healing to start. Due to the nature of the wound we had to take a different approach on 12/18/24. By 12/21/24 we started with Underwoods. We are so happy with how she healed and her temperament through the whole process. She was exposed to a lot very quickly out of necessity and she took everything in stride. We are so excited to start working with her as it begins to warm up.

Immediate opening. I have one spot available - can schedule others. I am able to take one green or young horse OR refresher for an older horse. I have LONG days & lots of wet saddle pads. Horses are exposed to large farm equipment, working with other horses & working alone, quiet cattle handling - cutting, sorting, pushing, etc., & roping. My immediate opening is for a horse that is already able to be rode, but I have spots for full starts in the next couple months. References upon request. This was ride #8. He is such a relaxed horse. Since this ride we have picked up the trot under saddle, stopping on the hind end, backing, and starting to move the shoulders. I cannot say enough good things about this horse.

As some of you may know, I took a break from training due to a shoulder dislocation accident. I have slowly returned to working with young and inexperienced horses. I am currently taking clients on again, but spots are limited.

The horse featured below is a 4 y/o gelding. He was very reactive and untrusting when we began. He had a major shoulder injury - we have that in common. I started with him in April working on desensitization and exposure. We worked through all kinds of sacking out, saddling and unsaddling, ground driving, ponying along side, standing tied (with horses and alone), and LOTS of work in the round pen. His shoulder injury has required alot of rehab to build what muscle is there to function as close to normal as possible. Currently he has 15 rides and continuing to make progress everyday.

Tie-downs need to be used so horses can’t go too far past a balanced headset but not to set their heads to hold them completely. Horses need freedom to do their jobs and not be restricted the entire time they’re working. It’s easier on the horse—just like everything you’ll hear me say—to give them clear boundaries. Tie-downs are not built to push on the whole time. That being said, there are a lot of horses who have been subjected to a tight tie-down, and wherever you set their head, they’ll hit the end of it because of incorrect riding. If you have a horse like that, sometimes they’re set in their patterns. That’s a bad habit that’s hard to break.⁣
