🍂 It’s not too late to join us for The Liberty of Letting Go this Saturday! 🍂
This special event blends the gentle release of yoga with the magic of horses.
Why horses, you might ask?
Aside from the fact that and I absolutely adore them 🐴, being around horses can be a profoundly moving experience.
Horses don’t pretend to be anything other than what they are. Their actions, emotions, and intentions are fully aligned.
Witnessing this radical authenticity can be extremely freeing—especially for those of us who’ve learned to hide our true feelings behind polite smiles. Horses feel what’s real. Their sensitivity allows them to mirror our energy and respond to even the subtlest shifts in mood or body language.
Through their honest, heart-centered presence, horses invite you to let go of your masks, soften your defenses, and return home to your truest self.
✨ Join us on Saturday, October 25th, 10am–12pm for The Liberty of Letting Go—a morning of yoga, meditation, journaling, and horse wisdom to help you release, reconnect, and realign.

Your nervous system is always listening, regulating your breath, heartbeat, and energy. It moves between two main states:🔥 “Fight or flight,” when we’re activated and alert, and💧 “Rest and digest,” when we’re calm and at ease.
Neither is inherently good or bad. A healthy nervous system easily flows between them as needed. But in our fast-paced modern world, many of us get stuck in “on” mode, pushed by stress, screens, and endless to-do lists.
Horses, on the other hand, move effortlessly between alertness and relaxation. They naturally shake off tension, return to grazing, and live fully in the moment.
During The Liberty of Letting Go, we’ll follow their lead. 🧘‍♀️ Shawna Marie Yoga will guide us through a grounding practice that helps retrain the body to flow between movement and rest.🐴 The Free Spirit herd will remind us what it means to release, breathe, and be fully present.
Join us October 25th, 10am–12pm as we step into the season of letting go, together.

What is yoga with horses? To answer that, first we have to ask, what is yoga?
In our modern world, yoga is often seen as a form of exercise, but that’s just one branch of a much larger tree. At its heart, yoga is about presence. One of the earliest records defines yoga as “stilling the fluctuations of the mind.” From this perspective, yoga is a way to cultivate calm, balance, and connection with ourselves, others, and the vibrant world around us.
If you’ve ever spent time with horses, these sensations might sound familiar. By their very nature, horses invite us into the present moment. They remind us to breathe and encourage us to rest in quiet awareness.
Yoga with Horses unites these two pathways to peace, elevating them into one powerful practice - connecting breath to breath and heart to heart.
✨Experience the magic for yourself this Sunday at 10am here at Free Spirit Stables, and during our special event, The Liberty of Letting Go on October 25th with 🙏

Horses have an incredible capacity to release the past and return—again and again—to the present moment. They are among the greatest teachers I’ve ever met when it comes to letting go of what no longer serves, and making space for greater ease, presence, and joy.
Join us in following their example on October 25th for The Liberty of Letting Go. will guide us through a grounding, embodied yoga practice, and the horses will invite us to make space for rest and rejuvenation in the seasons ahead.

EQUIFUSION will *not* be taking place on October 5th as originally planned.
This was a tough call to make, but we want to ensure that when EQUIFUSION happens, it’s the kind of experience that truly serves and inspires our community. After much thought, we’ve decided the timing isn’t quite right, and we’ll be taking a pause to reimagine and plan for the future.
We’re so grateful for your support, your enthusiasm, and the beautiful dance community that makes events like this possible. Stay tuned—EQUIFUSION isn’t gone, just riding off to return another day. 🌄

Catch Hannah Francis, Mick, and Pony Bill, teaching Hooves & Grooves at EQUIFUSION on October 5th! Hannah has spent 25 years immersed in the world of horses and 15 years on the dance floor. Now she weaves both into a unified practice that celebrates connection.
As a certified Liberty Horsemanship instructor, Hannah specializes in building authentic relationships with horses through invitation and choice, guiding equine partners without the use of force, or tack like halters and lead ropes. Her approach with horses is deeply influenced by her love of partner dancing. Hannah found Argentine tango and blues in college, then quickly fell for fusion dancing, drawn to its playful blend of styles, musicality, and the quality of listening required when you don’t know what your partner will offer next. Hannah’s teaching invites experimentation and curiosity. She encourages students to explore, observe, and discover what works for their unique partnerships—honoring the liberty of choice and the joy of connection.
Mick & Bill may literally have two left feet each, but they’re still talented dancers! Horses are born with natural instincts to step away from what approaches and step toward what moves away, much like a dance. This is how they flow together in a herd. During Hooves & Grooves, we dance at liberty, without tack, so the horses are free to choose whether to follow the leader’s request or add in their own variations, reminding us that true leadership is felt, not forced.
Join the dance on October 5th! Get your tickets here: freespiritstables.com/events/equifusion
No prior horse or dance experience is required!

Catch Shira Coleman Hagar teaching Swingin’ Out West from 10 - 11 am at EQUIFUSION on October 5th! Combine the energy and playfulness of Lindy Hop with the creativity of fusion dance. Shira will explore the dynamics of Lindy: direction, expansion, compression, frame and invitation, along with follower voice and classic swing movement.

Shira has enjoyed a lifelong passion for dance and found the world of social dancing when Lindy Hop took hold of Santa Cruz in 1997. Shira has taught dance locally since 1990, focusing on studio styles of jazz, ballet, contemporary, hip hop, tap, and lyrical until her skill and dedication to swing and social dancing led to regular classes in Lindy Hop starting in 2000. Shira has been teaching social swing styles since then, taking a break from dance for her two bouncing baby boys and then for COVID.
Shira’s first passion is for community building, and her dedication to teaching and hosting social dance events is a direct incarnation of the spirit of community and peer learning.
Shira’s hope is that dancers who come to her classes have fun, meet great friends, get serious about becoming a great dancer, and share their new skills with others, bringing up the level of all dancers in the community. Shira’s favorite class focuses are play, connection, and dance culture. She loves the generative street styles of dance where people can create dance for themselves instead of learning a library of “moves”.
Her current favorite dance styles are Blues and Bachata. Shira definitely wants to dance with you! Please ask her!
