With loosing another one of our special rescued babies yesterday to the rainbow bridge, I’ve come to appreciate our way of life so much more. We give each and every animal on our farm the best life we can give. We experience loss so much more than others will ever understand. Loss is inevitable when you have as many animals as we do. But no matter how often it happens, it still hurts every single time. Some losses hit harder than others.

When I see the grief in my children’s eyes, I sometimes find myself questioning it all—why have so many animals, knowing their time is limited and their passing will bring heartache?

But then I see the joy—those beaming smiles, the gentle hands, the bond they’ve built with each animal—and I’m reminded why we live this life.

On our little farm, my children are learning lessons that can’t be taught in books. They’ve witnessed the miracle of life, watching baby animals open their eyes for the first time. And they’ve stood quietly, bravely, as those same animals took their last breath.

They’re learning about love, responsibility, resilience, and loss. And while it’s hard, I know it’s shaping them into stronger, more compassionate little humans.

“It’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.”
We will miss you very much Shaggy! I’m glad we were able to make your life so much happier for your short time with us! Rest easy sweet friend !
