Lenny is a 10 year old Viszla who was almost euthanized at the shelter due to elevated kidney values. Luckily, his future owner asked me about his bloodwork and to help evaluate his kidneys. We found that he has a protein-losing nephropathy that was able to be treated. You can see the difference in his health and happiness in his face! His kidney values are now normal after treatment. Such a happy story!

12yr old FS DSH presented for multiple swollen, painful digits. Radiographs were performed of the digits. What are the radiographic findings and diagnosis? What is the next step in work-up of this case?
Answer: There are lyric lesions on multiple weight-bearing digits of the forelimbs. This is consistent with metastatic neoplasia from a primary lung tumor. This is called feline lung-digit syndrome. This is an unusual metastatic pattern associated with primary lung tumors in cats. Radiographs of the thorax should be obtained if an older cat is found to have aggressive digital lesions.

Interventional Radiology is used in veterinary patients too. Roxy had an ultrasound-guided biopsy of a mediastinal mass in her chest performed today. The procedure took just 10 minutes and she did great! This will give us a definitive diagnosis to help guide therapy.

Hollie had a tendon ultrasound today, and had pretty good news - mild superficial digital flexor tendinitis. Love doing equine tendon ultrasound even when it’s 10 degrees out!
