It’s is essential to expose puppies and young dogs to the right groomer early on in your journey together and here’s why:
* If your groomer treats a puppy (or a dog that’s new to grooming) as another dog on the assembly line, it can have lifelong negative effects on how your puppy will respond to grooming
* Your puppy could associate grooming with a punishment/ can learn to be fearful of tools, sounds, etc.
Good groomers have trained in puppy handling as well as safe grooming techniques. They know how to introduce/ desensitize puppies and dogs (that are new to grooming) to the entire process using safe procedures and positive reinforcement .
Norman was first introduced to grooming by his breeder and he actually enjoys being groomed!
