Did you know Alpaca manure is a great natural fertilizer for your yard?

We have plenty of it pilling up at the Zoo. So if you would like to come get it, bring your own containers and we will fill it for you. All we ask is for a small donation in exchange to help the Zoo continue to stay open and admission free!

There is an event going on today on the NCC grounds from 10-2PM that is paid admission. The Zoo is open, but you will need to pay to enter the NCC grounds until 2.

We want to give a big shout out to Patti Nie for serving as our Zoo Curator for so many years! She is a big part of what the Sunrise Children’s Zoo is today and we are grateful for her years of service. We had a chance to recognize her last fall for all of her hard work and wish her the best as she moves forward spending time with her family and in her future endeavors.

She has very big shoes to fill! We are taking applications for a new curator and a couple of part time employees for the 2025 summer season. We will also need volunteers to fill in and help out. Volunteers are a vital part of how the Zoo can continue to stay open for our community to enjoy for years to come.

We were honored to have Abby Turpin from Northeast Iowa Food Bank speak to us today. In addition, we were able to partner with Perkins and donate $200 to the Food Bank. Together we are making the Cedar Valley a better place to live.
