Miss Leona is here to work through her leash reactivity and dog aggression. Mom hit her break point when she was out on a walk and Leona saw another dog, lost her mind, her collar popped off, and she beelined it to the other dog and bit its leg.

Would you be surprised if I told you that during our first session, Cashie was attacking the leash when mom had to pull him back and even tried to bite me? Now heā€™s able to be off leash around me because we established clear communication, built a healthier relationship between him and his mom, held him accountable, and taught him what is and isnā€™t acceptable.

Now the result at our last session together??? More freedom for him, and his mom who feels way more confident and comfortable handling him.

Does your dog bring the toy back to keep the game going, or grab it and take off on their own?

I donā€™t want my dog to see me as a transaction, where I provide the toy and they do everything else themselves.

I want them to love playing with me. I want them to think Iā€™m FUN. It should be intentional, quality time spent together, where you are both having fun. If you donā€™t look like a sweaty idiot, then you arenā€™t doing it right šŸ˜‚

Socialization isnā€™t about constant interaction. Itā€™s about teaching your dog when to appropriately interact and when to simply coexist and be neutral. Leaning too far in either direction can create issues.

Like everything, there is a balance you have to find.

Your dogs tongue should be hanging out of their mouth AT LEAST 2x a day.
And no, I donā€™t mean a light pant from a casual walk. Iā€™m talking deep, heavy panting from intense exercise.

Dogs were not bred to just go for a slow neighborhood walk.

They were bred to work. To hunt, chase, kill.

Once you provide them with a proper outlet, life will become so much easier. For both of you.

Spending a few minutes dialing your dog in before your walk will make a big difference in the quality of your walk and how connected your dog is to you.

My dogs have all nailed a loose leash walk, but I still always warm them up, especially when we go to a new place.

Itā€™s just like stretching before you work out. No matter how long youā€™ve been working out, you still need to stretch first.
