We are a five-doctor, mixed-animal practice located in Waterford, Pennsylvania. We also cover part of Chautauqua County, NY.
The friendly, small-town atmosphere is one thing that founder of the practice, Dr. Robert Bell was looking for when he decided to open the doors of this veterinary practice in May of 1997. Animal Hospital of Waterford, P.C., found its humble beginnings in a small, storefront office about ½ mile down the road from where the office now stands. First providing services on plywood and a couple saw hor
ses as an exam table (for some of our VERY first small animal clients), and a single large-animal work truck, our office has since grown to progressive, proactive, modern veterinary hospital with 3 full-time veterinarians on staff. Our small animal hospital consists of a welcoming reception area, five exam rooms, a consult room, a surgery suite, and a fully-stocked treatment area. A designated x-ray room with digital developing equipment allows us to take and evaluate radiographs within minutes. Full, in-house Idexx laboratory equipment allows us to run blood and urine samples in-clinic and enables prompt treatment of critical cases. We provide full anesthetic services with complete biometric monitoring for all surgical procedures. All after-hours emergency work for our small animal clients is provided by the NWPA Pet Emergency Clinic in Erie, PA. For our large animal clients, we have 2 fully-stocked, large-animal mobile veterinary units that are on the road full time, providing routine and emergency service to our clients throughout most of Erie County as well as parts of Crawford and Warren Counties in PA. After hours emergency services are provided to our established large animal clientele via our very own paging network.

Recently the pet microchip company called “Save This Life” has gone out of business. This leaves many pet owners concerned about their pets’ safety, should they run away, because their information (owner name, address, and phone number) was stored with that company.
We would like to assure all of our clients that we have never used this company. Therefore, if Animal Hospital of Waterford implanted the microchip for you, there is no need for concern. We have been using AKC Reunite for many years now.
The AKC Reunite microchip company is allowing those affected by this incident to transfer their information over to them until April 1, 2025, for a reduced cost. It requires that you bring your pet in so that one of our employees can scan your pet and complete the online filing.
If you are unsure if your pet’s microchip is from “Save This Life”, you can check your records and see if the number starts with “991” or “900164”. We are sending notifications out to everyone whose pet has one of these numbers, according to our records. A veterinary professional can scan your pet, to obtain the microchip number, if your records have been lost.

Did you know that you now have a "Pet Portal" to look up your pet's vaccination status and request some prescription refills? This was made possible with our recent software upgrade! The one thing to remember when looking it up, though, is that we have to have your email address on file for everything to match up! Please feel free to call in and give us a good email address for your record, or update us the next time you're in.
Take a look around and get used to some better accessibility!
