I would like to say. Last week was one for the books for sure! A great experience I got to share not only with my wife, but my 9yr old son Hunter. Not the ideal time to leave the shop, considering I’m behind on mounts, but filling the freezer is an important part of our lifestyle. I appreciate the patients from all my amazing customers! Thank you
After several days of not seeing much of anything(one cow moose) I spotted a bull several miles out.
After some deep thought and planning, we started the journey that would span throughout most of the day and most of all night. It was one of the toughest I’ve had to endure in a long time! One that most wouldn’t have considered. Around 6hrs in the Argo across unknown extreme terrain, navigating around ponds and drainages to close the distance. We then took the last almost 2 miles on foot for the stalk. Took us a while to find them. Trekking through thick brush, and creek beds, we were able to finally catch up to him and all his cows! There he was! My amazing wife put a beautiful kill shot on that bull! Putting him down. Much deserved success! Her first bull moose, and first kill in nearly 7yrs.
Although late in the day, the work now begins. Finishing up in the early morning hours in the darkness under lights. We then had the difficult decision of spending the night in the Argo protecting our harvest. instead of trying to risk riding out in the middle of the night with no trails. Although not comfortable at all! We got through the night just fine. Making the journey out at daylight.
I’m in awe at the endurance, perseverance, and dedication of Ginny and Hunter, to completing the exhausting task of harvesting one of these incredible creatures in the fashion we did. They did amazing! Never falling behind, or even thinking of quitting! Im SO proud of these two and am incredibly lucky to have such a great family. Let’s not forget Mckinley! She’s pretty amazing to holding down the fort at home for us taking one for the team! I love you guys!
Now it’s back to the grind getting the fleshing caught up, and getting out all of the mounts done. Again I appreciate everyones patients and hope you all have had a great season so far. Be safe!!!
