Wilma is a senior girl is search of a special place to land for the rest of her days. Wilma is blind and deaf, but she knows what grass is and appreciates it if you put her in a grassy area for potty time. We estimate her to be 10-12 years old, but age is just a number! She loves to eat, does well with grooming and just wants a soft place to land!

Beaufort County Animal Services is notifying residents, pet owners, and visitors of confirmed cases of canine parvovirus (commonly known as Parvo) in the City of Washington. Over the past seven days, three separate puppies from different households located between 1st Street and 6th Street have tested positive for the virus.

While these cases are currently localized, Parvo is an extremely contagious and potentially life-threatening disease. Due to the virus’s ability to spread through people, pets, objects, and the environment, Animal Services urges all pet owners — especially those living in or visiting the Washington community between 1st Street and 15th Street, as well as throughout Beaufort County — to take immediate precautions to protect their dogs.

Please be cautious when it comes to your animal's health! Vaccinations are extremely important in preventing different diseases, such as parvovirus (which is often fatal). Unfortunately, we have already heard of cases of parvovirus in Beaufort County. Young puppies are very susceptible to diseases of all kinds when they haven't gone through the entire course of vaccinations and booster vaccinations.

It is very important to remember that parvovirus can live in the soil for 7 months to 1 year, meaning an infected area (i.e. a sick dog was at that location) can easily get your puppy/dog sick. Whether that infected area is touched by your dogs paws or even touched by your shoes that you kick off when you get home, the risk is still there.

Be vigilant when it comes to your pet's health...their life may depend on it.

🐶 A Kinston veterinary clinic says it has seen an increase in parvovirus cases among puppies and adult dogs during the past month. Veterinarians are urging pet owners to keep vaccinations up to date and seek care immediately if symptoms appear. Link in comments.

Watching this little guy learn to be happy again can turn any bad day into good. All he needs now is a home so he can continue living his best life!

When Ace came in he was matted so terribly he could not see the world around him. Despite the challenges he has faced, he still remains the happiest boy and just wants a home that’ll cuddle him the rest of his days!! (Ace is HUGE on cuddling so you must be prepared😉)

We would like to find Ace a home with no other dogs. He is not aggressive with them, but is very scared and we want him as comfortable and happy as possible! Come meet Ace Monday-Friday 1-5pm. We have Ace labeled as a Maltese mix!

Cowboy found himself at the shelter after being found in terrible condition and all on his own. Since then Cowboy has been putting on weight wonderfully and is so excited to show someone all the love he has to give. This guy has tested well with other dogs and we are unsure of cats. If you have a dog, please bring them for a meet and greet!

We are open Monday-Friday 1-5pm. He is available for $85 including his neuter, microchip and first set of vaccinations!
