Today is National Black Cat Day 🐈‍⬛
In honor, meet Miss Emma ~

I am what you would call a teenage mother, because I am not very much older than my four little kittens. I am very sweet and petite. Plus, I am beautiful! I am like the precious black pearl found in exotic places like Tahiti. My coat is black and shiny and I love it when people brush it and pet it! I am very quiet and laid-back… Maybe it’s because I am kind of tired from raising four kittens! I would love to be your special cat. We would have a lot of fun together. I can guarantee you that!! 🐈‍⬛

She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea-treated, dewormed, and negative for FIV/FeLV. Indoor only and no declawing. She is in foster.

Mia charmed all during her visit to PetSmart today! (You may have heard the name Marley, but she’s in fact named Mia). Of course, she’s only a 5-month-old puppy so her adopters may choose a completely different name with no worries!

Mia was reportedly calm and amazingly well behaved. She did great meeting children. She did fine with friendly dogs, and really enjoyed new toys, a pup cup, and a treat from a shopper!

Plus, this pup is gorgeous with her one blue eye and one brown eye. While we don’t know her familial background, an educated guess leads us to believe possibly Husky/Shepherd. Pure speculation.

But please realize that she’s going to get bigger and will most likely be over 50 lbs. You have to be ok with whatever size she grows to. And please realize that as she grows, she will be an active adolescent. She needs an owner who will be around more often than not. Her family will need to have the time, patience, and energy to exercise and teach her.

She’s a puppy. A baby dog. Look at that trusting smile. She will need someone to lovingly teach her….everything. That includes housetraining. And please don’t yell at her. Teach her. Then you will create an amazing bond with your dog. ❤️🐾

If you’d like to be a puppy parent to this lovely girl, you can stop in to meet her Sunday between 12-3 (please arrive by 2:30) or by appointment during the week. A link to the rescue (and an application) will be in the comments.

The camera loves Remi and Remi loves the camera! 💕🐾

Four years old, 60 lbs, female Bluetick Coonhound mix. Remi prefers an adult home with zero cats (well…it might just be the cats who prefer a home without Remi 😉).

Come meet Remi Sunday at Angel Ridge in Washington, PA between 12-3 (please arrive by 2:30). Remi may just become your new best friend! ❤️

A link to the rescue will be in the comments.

A special thank you to Big Guys Pizza for their kindness today! We ordered a couple of pizzas for volunteers at the memorial bench dedication of Tommy Rizor, and they gifted us with a third pizza. Rescue can be rough and draining, but kindness is always beautiful and so appreciated. Thank you! And the pizza was delicious! ❤️🐾

Today at Angel Ridge, volunteers presented Stevie Rizor with a bench in memory of her husband, Tommy. Tommy contributed so much to the rescue, and he will always be remembered as part of Angel Ridge Animal Rescue. The bench is in front of the adoption trailer and is inscribed with a dedication to Tommy. Stevie and Tommy have dedicated themselves to the hard work of animal rescue for many years, and Stevie continues to make a positive impact daily on the lives of homeless animals through Angel Ridge Animal Rescue. ❤️🐾

Thank you, Roxanne, of Creative Canine Cuts for completely transforming Jazzy from a matted mess to a little Yorkie princess! 💕🐾

Jazzy is a very sweet, happy dog who dances her way into your heart. Her owner moved into an apartment and could no longer keep her. She was likely years overdue for grooming and any vet care. Jazzy is groomed, vetted, and available for adoption. She is nine years old. You can meet her Saturday or Sunday between 12-3 (please arrive by 2:30) at Angel Ridge in Washington, PA.

We highly recommend submitting an application in advance since it takes time to check references, and you could miss out on this sweet girl. Approved apps are kept on file for three months. A link to the rescue and application will be in the comments.

In response to misinformation being presented on social media, the following are the facts pertaining to the terrier, Albert, that we accepted from the finder with the Pennsylvania dog warden's knowledge on August 5th, 2025, and who was adopted to a new home on August 10th, 2025.

ARAR has complied with the laws of the Commonwealth of PA with respect to Albert's adoption. Prior to coming to us, he was kept for his safety by a woman in Washington County and advertised as found. The 48-hour stray hold requirement was satisfied for over a week before he arrived at ARAR. During the five days that Albert was held at ARAR, staff regularly checked lost dog sites.

Albert is estimated to be approximately 4 years old. It is documented that he has “escaped” from his home at least three times- in February 2022, January 2025 and currently. His home was in Ohio County, WV. In this latest “escape” episode, the PA dog warden advised us that the owner, an older woman, waited one week before she advised her family that her dog was missing.

Upon his arrival at ARAR, Albert was examined by our veterinarian who determined:
-He did not have a microchip.
-He had several deep skin wounds.
-He had a severe flea and tick allergy and potential mange.
-He was missing a substantial amount of his fur.
-He was Lyme disease positive.
-He had severe intestinal parasites.
-His toenails were excessively long and his fur that remained was unkept and matted.
-He has a potential growth plate deformity of the foreleg which
causes him pain when he walks.

Alberts treatment plan includes 2 medicated baths per week, a strong course of antibiotics, Ivermectin injections for the mange, meds for the Lyme disease and oral flea and tick meds. He is on meds for the growth plate issue.

Alberts medical issues existed long before his two-week departure from his home.

In conclusion, the woman who has presented herself as Albert's rightful owner was neglectful in both keeping her dog safe and addressing his many medical issues. Our adoption to a new family was done within the parameters of the law, and his many medical needs are being addressed.

Prepare to fall in love with this adorable bonded pair of long-haired, eight-month-old kittens, RUDY (tabby) and NICK (black)💙💙

This handsome duo is full of energy and curiosity and will keep you entertained all day long!

NICK is a true "love bug." He's a confident, sweet boy who loves to rub his face on you and will even give you a hug around the neck with both paws. You can often find him rolling around playfully in his hammock, catching the attention of any human passing by.

While RUDY is a little shy at first, he's always close behind his brother, NICK. Once he feels comfortable, look out! He'll dart around the room chasing his brother and rub against his human asking for affection. Both of these talkative boys love to chat with each other and their humans.

Playtime is a must! These two love to play with each other, and they especially love chasing mice, pom poms, and wand toys. They always end their sessions by rolling a treat ball around the floor until the rewards appear. These boys have not yet interacted with children or other cats and dogs. They would thrive in a home where they are the center of attention of their humans.

Are you ready to open your heart to this dynamic duo? They're waiting at Bailey’s Cat Haven!

They are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, flea-treated, dewormed, and negative for FIV/FeLV. Indoor only and no declawing.

Adopted ♥️ ♥️

Want a loving companion but not up to picking up their clothes, washing their laundry, cleaning the bathroom after them, packing their lunches, or asking every single night, “what should we have for dinner?”

Or that overly needy one who requires your undivided attention 24/7, let alone the whole in-law thing?

Just looking for someone to sit by your feet and be quiet as you have your morning coffee, read the newspaper, watch TV and never interrupt your conversations?

PETUNIA’S your girl!

Yep, she’s as sweet as a flower but so low maintenance, her name could easily be Low-Key.

Want a young cat who’s not as needy as a kitten, who won’t require your attention every single second when you walk in the door?

Don’t want a cat who jumps on your bed? How about a cat who doesn’t jump on your sofa, chair or kitchen counter or better yet, “any” piece of furniture?

Then PETUNIA a.k.a. Low-Key’s your girl.

Disclaimer: she does require dry kibble, fresh water, and a scooped litter box on a daily basis (not a fan of canned food)

You will be contractually required to give her pets upon demand though…don’t worry, she’ll let you know when it’s time.

She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea-treated, dewormed, and negative for FIV/FeLV. Indoor only and no declawing.

Founded in 1999 by Dan and Nancy Shannon, Angel Ridge Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) no-kill shelter and sanctuary for dogs and cats, located on 50 acre Angel Ridge farm in Washington, Pennsylvania. Angel Ridge Animal Rescue is funded entirely by private contributions and fund raising programs conducted by the volunteers.

Our mission is to provide a permanent home and care for animals in need, focusing on those:

• Dogs that are adoptable, but in danger of being euthanized in another shelter.

• Dogs and cats that are elderly or “special needs” but are otherwise adoptable.
