Ten years ago, I hosted Thanksgiving dinner for my neighbors—many of whom where new to DC and far away from family. NoMa was just breaking ground and still littered with vacant lots but a community was forming and lasting friendships were being forged. I learned an invaluable lessen that year, about the importance of letting go of people, ideas, and traditions that do not allow you to become a better version of yourself. In the last ten years, as an entrepreneur, mother and friend—I expanded my capacity to serve, love, and celebrate. I am most thankful for my community, which is more than the place I call home—it is my family. Thank you for welcoming me into your hearts and homes.
