Pulling on leash can be a hard habit to break. It’s very reinforcing for your dog to pull and get access to what they want.

How do you stop it?

That’s exactly what we’re showing you how to do with Walk Into Summer starting on 6/1. ☀️

👉 Enjoy your walks together instead of getting pulled
👉 Get consistency instead of chaos
👉 Learn how to get your dog’s attention and keep it
👉 Finally get that nice loose leash walk you’ve wanted

In our community, we’ll show you walking games you can add right into your walks. 🐾 They’re fun, practical, and your dog will learn to walk nicely on leash.

✅ This is perfect if you have a young dog learning skills for the first time, and for more mature dogs who need to create better walking habits.

🤯 You’ll be surprised at what a few minutes of walking games can do to make your walks more enjoyable and connected with your dog.

💫 Comment or DM “WALK” to learn the training games that will improve your walks.

We get this question all the time. When will my puppy finally chill out?!? 😭 This is one of our popular posts and is worth resharing.

Every dog is different, and things like breed, training, and the effort you put into raising them all play a part. But generally, most dogs settle into a calmer routine between 2 to 3 years old.

💡 Remember, just because they’re more settled doesn’t mean you should stop meeting their needs. In adulthood, they’ll still need enrichment, activities, and attention to their behavior.

👉 If you’re in puppyhood or adolescence, be patient and hang in there. These stages are more demanding, but all the work you’re putting in now will pay off in the long run.

✅ Between puppyhood and adulthood, your dog’s needs will change, and you’ll need to evolve how you meet them. We have a community with engaging monthly activities to help your dog stay enriched, meet their developing needs, and keep learning. Plus, you can ask our trainers any questions.

💫 Comment or DM “COMMUNITY” if you’d like to learn more about a fun and engaging place to help raise your dog.

Social media tips and advice scratch the surface. Your dog’s reactivity is a complex behavior, and you need a wide range of skills to help them go from reactions to calm.

👉 Early signs of progress are easier to achieve. But, building progress and making it stick without the right skills is almost impossible.

- That’s why it feels like your training is stalling
- Like you keep trying, but you’re not seeing the payoff
- Or worse, like you’re going backwards

Reactive dog training is more than just repeated exposure.

➡️ Knowing exactly what to do when a trigger appears to prevent an outburst
➡️ Understanding how to adjust your training to meet your dog’s evolving needs
➡️ Management strategies other than distance
➡️ Knowing when to train and when to rest

So many reactive dog owners come to us burned out and defeated. You don’t have to avoid triggers forever. Even though reactivity is a complex behavior, there is a proven way to help your dog relax.

You just need the right skills. Our 6 week reactive dog training program will teach you what you need to know to change your walks.

✅ Comment or DM “NEWSKILLS” and we’ll show you how to change barking, fixating, and lunging into new, calm responses.

Herding breeds have genetic tendencies like managing & organizing their environment and being more vocal.

👉 That’s why they tend to be more frustrated on leash where they can’t satisfy their natural behavioral leanings.

As reactive dog trainers with 15+ years of experience, dog owners with these herding breeds tend to struggle keeping their dogs calm on leash.

- German Shepherd
- Malinois
- Cattle Dog
- Border Collie
- Sheepdog
- Corgi

And yes, that includes cross breeds and mixes like Sheepadoodles.

If you have a herding breed with leash reactive behaviors, you can help your dog relax instead of barking and lunging.

✅ Comment of DM “CALMER” and we’ll show you the exact reactive dog training plan we use with our students for calmer walks.
