The milder temps have us looking forward to summer show season. Central PA winter has been a tough one. Do you pay attention to your fitness program or do you just expect your horse to pick up where they left off before winter hit hard? Keep these tips in mind as you return to riding:
🐎Consistency: Train 4-5 days a week, but ensure at least one full day off.
🐎Active Walking: Build a solid foundation by walking actively (not strolling) for 15-20 minutes before asking for harder work.
🐎Hill Work: Walking up and down hills is the best way to strengthen hindquarters and improve cardiovascular fitness.
🐎Remember slow and steady return to work reduces injuries.
