In sickness and health...
When Rocky was returned to our rescue his former foster family gathered him up in their loving arms and pledged to care for him. This family has quite a heart for the needy and abandoned. They've already adopted three of our pups and it's been wonderful to watch them thrive.
Now the whole family, including the furry ones, are giving Rocky their best. Alumni Banjo has appointed himself his chief companion and BFF and Rocky is doing well with his comforting presence. We're so thankful for this family and their unwavering commitment to our boy and we are all taking things day by day hoping and praying for the best.
As mentioned before, Rocky's medical expenses are quite high and we have a ways to go to meet our fundrasing goal. Can you help? No amount is to small. The link to the fundraiser is below:

Our small but mighty rescue has taken in many "Tikis" with sad stories over the years. We've helped them heal, learn to trust, and prepared them for their forever homes.

This special MUTTS Foster Stories strip features Tiki, a very brave boy who was rescued by the ASPCA and pulled into the Muddy Paws Rescue NYC program, where he captured the hearts of millions through the daily updates shared by his incredible foster, Isabel (of SimonSits). She documented his journey from a shut down and fearful shell of himself, to the first time he accepted pets, to the first time he played, all the way through to his adoption. Tiki has helped raise hundreds of thousands for shelter animals, but he has one more plea: foster his friends!

There are millions of pets nationwide in need of caring fosters to help them decompress from the hustle and bustle of the shelter, find their confidence again, and put their best paw forward in their search for their forever homes. Will you help one of them become brave like Tiki?

Who remembers Scooby?! Dropped off at animal control by his family who no longer wanted him.

Absolutely terrified at the shelter. Wedged himself in the corner of his kennel. (Pic included) It was very difficult for staff to even get him out to clean his kennel or give him some outside time. They sent out an email to multiple rescues with him and many others that they were trying to place. Scooby tugged at our heart strings, like so many do. We took him in and he was a scared boy indeed.

He improved being in a home but still had so many fears of people. Yet he didn’t have an aggressive bone in his body. Was a perfect gentleman in the house. Got along with any dog he met.

Along came an amazing couple. They love all dogs but the Mastiffs held a special place in their hearts. They applied for Scooby and knew they needed to earn his trust. Making many visits to his foster home just to be in Scooby’s presence. Literally not asking anything of him but to learn to trust them.

We know they had their concerns but they took a chance on him. And while he still is wary around people, he’s doing so well and they have adapted their lives to make sure he’s loved and safe.

Look at him on a boat! Enjoying life! He went from scared in the shelter to having a loving family that would never think of giving him up.

A huge thank you to the foster who made this union possible and to his amazing forever family for this absolutely, perfect happy ending. This keeps us going!! 💙

"Taking the “hard dogs.” Doing the big medical. Advocating. Passing on the easy to adopt dogs, and instead focusing our efforts where it really needs us...
STOP looking at breeds, and start looming at traits..consider the mixes. Consider the seniors. Consider the 3 legged, no eyed, different color puppies."

So, so many wonderful pups are overlooked who could be the perfect new member of your family. They only need the chance!

ROCKY NEEDS YOUR HELP!
This sweet pup was once Linus of our Peanuts Gang Puppies. He was recently returned to us due to lifestyle changes of his adopters. As you may be aware, all adopters must sign a contract to return their animals to us if they can no longer care for them.

We are so grateful to have him back as it was immediately apparent that this pup was a very sick boy and clearly neglected. We have since learned that due to untreated lyme disease he has stage three chronic kidney disease, permanent damage to several other organs and a number of other serious medical diagnoses.

Sadly ALL OF THESE COMPLICATIONS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF PREVENTATIVES HAD BEEN ADMINISTERED!

For now he remains a happy little dog and we are exploring options for treatment. These tests, medications and and special diets are all quite costly but we are committed to provide Rocky with the best care we can.

Please consider making a donation to help us help Rocky. He's only a few years old and deserves more than his short life has given him. And remember administering preventatives are necessary to maintain your pets health! Hug your furbabies
