This morning we were contacted by a family that was looking to arrange a time to pick up their mini donkey. I was perplexed by the assumption someone can come in a day without being vetted (if we were to adopted out which we aren’t) and just get one of our donkeys. I thanked the person for their interest and informed them that our donkeys were permanent residents here to live out their lives peacefully with the herd. She sent me screen shots (see below) of conversations she assumed was with our farm about the purchase.
This page Mini Donkeys/Calf’s and Livestock is using our physical address to scam people into believing they will be purchasing these sweet animals. Luckily, the family did not send a deposit as asked bc she wanted to see the animals in person. Using our address she found us through Facebook. She only contacted our page because she was no longer getting a response for pick up details for today.
I’m angry and concerned that someone would use our physical address and scam people. I’m just waiting for unsuspecting people to show up expecting to pick up a donkey that they believe they put a deposit on or paid for. I’ve reported this page as has the family that was taken advantage of. Unfortunately, there was no option for me to explain that our address was being used. What other options do we have?
