Good morning!! I just wanted to spread the good news that I am back available for overnight pet sitting in the Amissville & Warrenton areas. Book now!

07/22/2022

Unfortunately, with my recent move & change of living situation, I’m going to have to discontinue overnight pet sitting until further notice. I can still serve the Amissville area or a once a day situation to check in on cats or farm animals not needing constant care. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.

I currently work at a vet’s office in Stephens City from 8am-6pm. Depending on your location, midday walks might be possible during my lunch breaks. If you call, please leave a voicemail.

Still available on weekends if anyone takes a short trip. 🙂

Just so everyone is updated, I’m located in Amissville currently & work in Stevens City at a veterinarian office. I am only currently booking in locations near my home or not far off the path to my job. I work 10 hour days so I am currently unable to provide midday care. I apologize for the inconvenience.

I hope everyone is having a great spring!! Just to update everyone, I am now working full time at a local vet so I am unavailable from 7:00am-6:30pm 4 days a week. When using my services, you will need to find a dog walker if your pets require midday walks unless you are in Stephens City. I apologize for the inconvenience. Enjoy the beautiful spring before it’s gone!

HEATSTROKE WARNING!

We currently have 2 patients in the clinic with heatstroke, one of which is in a critical condition.

PLEASE do not take your dog out for a walk, a run around or boisterous play during this extreme heat. The critically ill patient was playing yesterday at 5pm for just 20 minutes, he was a young healthy strong dog who is sadly now in a comatose state. We are fighting hard to save him.

If you own a very old, very young, overweight or brachycephalic dog (short nosed like a pug, staffy or boxer) our advice would be not to take them out in this weather AT ALL: The risk is too high.

Please keep them cool, calm and indoors until this extreme heatwave passes.

On those hot days, bring your pets inside.

On those hot days, bring your pets inside.

⚠️Heat Wave Alert!⚠️

With the temperatures rising, please be aware that all dogs can easily overheat, in particular brachycephalic breeds as listed below!

Warning signs to look for:

🔹Excessive or loud panting
🔹Extreme thirst
🔹Thick saliva
🔹Vomiting
🔹Increased heart rate
🔹Bright red tongue & pale gums

To prevent your dog from over heating, walk your dog during the cooler hours (early morning or evening) & on soft ground rather than pavement to protect their paw pads.

It is also suggested that using frozen ice packs or frozen water to cool your dog down can have the opposite effect, therefore cool water is sufficient.

⚠️Remember⚠️ - dogs don't sweat like humans & have to pant & sweat through their paws to cool down making it much more difficult for them!
