Every dog should be muzzle trained.
Not because they’re aggressive — because life is unpredictable. A dog that’s injured, in pain, scared, or under stress can react differently than they normally would. Even stable, well-socialized dogs may need a muzzle at the vet, during recovery, or in an emergency situation.
The worst time to introduce a muzzle is when your dog is already overwhelmed.
Proper muzzle training is done gradually and positively so the dog is comfortable wearing it long before it’s ever necessary. It’s no different than leash training, crate training, or teaching a reliable recall. It’s preparation.
Responsible ownership is about having the tools and training in place before you need them.
