Im so sorry for the loss of Bubbey🐶💔
We want to share our experience with the local pet community to bring awareness.
Its taken me 6 weeks to get the strength to share Bubbey's story after our world was shattered. If you see this post, PLEASE SHARE IT🙏 We used the company Long Island Pet Nanny while we were recently away. 10 days after returning home we had to euthanize our beloved pup Niko due to the steep decline in mobility and his loss in appetite. No one told us he hadnt been eating well until the day after we came home and ONLY AFTER i asked. Niko walked us to the door when we left, he couldn't even stand up on his own when we came back. He had some mobility issues prior which the sitter was informed of, but he could walk on his own. I reached out again to the sitter asking if there had been any incidents while we were gone, I was told yes, that after the first night the sitter woke up and saw him on the floor, next to a side table that was toppled over, she suspected he "fell hard that night" and "he couldn't walk from that day forward" . We looked at our cameras at this point and we found a video where the table is on his bed! This was seen by the sitter, he couldn't walk after this yet Niko wasnt taken to the vet! We werent notified of the incident at all and wouldn't have been if I hadn't asked. To be clear on the facts, the sitter woke up to a table on his bed, Niko wasnt able to walk and NOTHING WAS DONE except to start using a harness to help him get around and we were not told! This is heartbreaking and so not OK! No vet care offered, not myself or our emergency contact was told of any incidents or issues. When I found out these facts I demanded to speak with the owner of the company, she showed zero compassion and I was told "our sitter provided attentive and thorough care". I said we were going to have to euthanize him so he wasnt suffering, i received a generic sorry for your loss and a message that said "your senior dog is being euthanized due to age, not negligence " , THIS is the kind of person who is running this company! What kind of person says this to a grieving family, does this sound like the kind of person you would want to be caring for your animals in your absence?! Even when our family was dealing with this tragedy, she wouldnt take any accountability. I was made to feel like they did such a great job because they got waterproof pads and cold cuts for him and an offer to speak with a vet friend. Apparantly that is "thorough care" , not taking Niko who wasnt eating or walking on his own to the vet. PLEASE SHARE so any person considering using Long Island Pet Nanny can see our experience. I will forever have to live with the guilt that I chose this company, i dont want anyone else to ever have to go through the pain our family is going through. The loss of a beloved four legged family member is hard enough, to have it happen in this manner is horrific. ⬇️e tc
