One of the worst positional faults is that of inconsistency!

Many riders neglect their position while practicing at home, and they flop around in the saddle. When it comes time for a competition, they suddenly sit up bolt upright and try to adopt the perfect position. This drastic change can make their horse think that someone else is riding them!

Achieving a correct position that is both secure and flexible requires many hours of practice. If you want to have a good position during your dressage test, it is essential to focus on maintaining a good position while riding at home.

HTPC is cohosting a clinic with 5* Eventer Dana Cooke in just a few weeks - this will be the third opportunity in 2025 for Hilltoppers to ride with a 5* Instructor!!

As this is our August Meeting, Hilltoppers members will not pay ashland fees. Please reach out to Margot with any questions - if finances are a problem, there may be some scholarship options for Hilltoppers Members!

Dana is an amazing clinician with an inviting presence - a few HTPC members have participated in her previous local clinics!

Camp has been fantastic so far - tons of wrap ups and lessons learned to come - for now, tomorrow’s fun day ride times - if you’re around, come on over!! Cheer on your friends, they’ll ride a dressage test for a few remarks from the judge, pick a line in SJ to show off their skills and creativity, and then head to XC to work through the elements of the field!

Any and all Alumni - we are looking for chaperones for camp 7/23-27 (no need to do all days, just send us your availability) free lessons with top tier instructors) bring your horse or have one provided for you!

Unmounted portion of today’s meeting included 3 team building activities - we started with personal strengths and weaknesses, then went on to a team building activity where each member was given a word, they worked together to unscramble a question from the D3, C1, or C2 standards, and then worked together to provide the answer to the question. Finally, each member complimented two of their fellow members on an impressive characteristic. A great day for some morale-boosting, confidence building, team work.
