🐈⬛💜🌈
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved clinic cats, Earl and Roo, who were both humanely euthanized earlier this month. We said farewell to Earl on Friday, May 2nd after a long battle with suspected small cell lymphoma and chronic pancreatitis. And just over a week later we made the decision to say goodbye to Roo, whose large cell lymphoma unfortunately came out of remission. Roo initially responded well to our in-house chemotherapy treatment, which gave us an extra four, very special months with him. Our staff is obviously devastated at the loss of these two beloved companions. Though they are no longer with us, their pawprints will remain forever on our hearts and on the hearts of everyone who visited Civic Feline Clinic.
Earl came to Civic in 2011 from Community Concern for Cats for entropion surgery (eyelid repair). He clearly made an impact on the staff at the time because he never left! He quickly became a pillar of the Civic Feline team, quickly micromanaging his way to the top as Boss Cat. His confident, soulful eyes, and wise presence always brought comfort to our team and to every client who met him. Always the best dressed at work, Earl was a one-of-a-kind creature to the very end. His curmudgeonly meow will echo through the clinic halls forever.
Roo’s journey was very different. Roo was abandoned on our doorstep in 2020 in a storage box at approximately 7 years of age. But despite such a hard beginning, Roo quickly found his place here and became a cherished part of our clinic family. Roo was the biggest fan of head pats and snuggling with his catnip kicker toy. If he wasn't patrolling the halls looking for snacks, he was curled up in his bedding, tucked in under the covers. His sweet round face and deep green eyes always brightened up our day.
Both Earl and Roo represented what Civic Feline Clinic stands for: compassion, care, and the belief that every cat deserves love and dignity. We’re heartbroken by their loss, but we take comfort knowing they were deeply loved and cared for until the very end.
Thank you to everyone who showed them kindness over the years. They were not just clinic cats—they were our cats. And they always will be. Rest easy, sweet Earl and Roo.
