🚨 FRAUD ALERT — FORGED LCEP VETERINARY DOCUMENT 🚨

Los Caballos Equine Practice has been made aware of a forged Veterinary Health Certificate being circulated using our practice name, address, and identifying information.

This document is fraudulent. It was NOT created, issued, signed, or authorized by Los Caballos Equine Practice.

The individual identified as “Shane Yoder, DVM” is not, and has never been, a veterinarian with our practice. The phone number and purported veterinary license number provided for this individual are also not associated with LCEP.

At this time, we do not know who created this document. The name, phone number, veterinary credentials, and signature used appear to be fabricated. We are sharing the forged document publicly so that members of the equine community can recognize it and, most importantly, so that this document—or an altered version of it—is not successfully used to misrepresent another horse in the future.

🚩 A FEW OF THE IMMEDIATE RED FLAGS:

* A nonexistent veterinarian. The veterinarian named on the certificate has never practiced with LCEP.
* Conflicting contact information. Legitimate LCEP contact information was copied onto part of the document, while a different phone number was placed under the fictitious veterinarian.
* A false veterinary license number. Veterinary licenses can and should be independently verified through the appropriate state licensing board.
* A false Coggins/EIA laboratory designation. The certificate identifies Los Caballos Equine Practice as the laboratory performing the Coggins/EIA test. We are not an EIA testing laboratory.
* Real information mixed with fabricated information. This may be the most important warning sign of all. Scammers can copy a legitimate clinic’s name, address, logo, veterinarian information, or other details from the internet and combine them with fabricated information to create something that initially appears credible.

PLEASE VERIFY BEFORE YOU BUY.

When purchasing a horse, particularly online, sight unseen, or from outside your area, do not assume a document is authentic simply because it looks professional.

Do your due diligence on everyone involved in the transaction—including veterinarians, sellers, trainers, agents and haulers. Look up veterinary licenses independently. Research businesses and individuals. And contact the veterinary practice directly using contact information YOU independently locate, rather than relying on the phone number or email printed on a document you are trying to verify.

If you receive ANY veterinary record represented as originating from Los Caballos Equine Practice, you are always welcome to call our office directly to verify its authenticity.

This includes health certificates, Coggins/EIA documentation, vaccination records, pre-purchase examination reports, radiographs, laboratory results, medical records, invoices, or other veterinary documentation.

We would much rather take a few minutes to verify a record than see a buyer, seller, transporter, or horse become the victim of fraud.

⚠️ Please be aware that the attached certificate is FORGED. If you have received this document, a variation of it, or another document bearing our practice information that you believe may be suspicious, please contact Los Caballos Equine Practice directly.

Please share this post, particularly within the horse-sale and transportation community. The more people who recognize this forged document, the harder it becomes for someone to use it again.
