Our loyal friend, Brahman breeder, customer and friends. We have lost one of our own Brahman breeders and his absence will be missed and always remembered by all who he loved.
Ray C. Stokley, age 78 of Hockley passed away on June 22, 2024. Ray C. has been involved in the Agricultural Industry his whole life. He grew up on a cattle ranch raising Brahman cattle, and later got into raising show pigs. Ray met Cheryl and knew she was the love of his life; proposing marriage after two months of dating, then married four months later. They shared 55 years together and would have celebrated their anniversary on October 30th. Instilling his passion for agriculture in his kids, Jennifer & Ralph started showing pigs at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo's open show at the young age of three. Showing livestock was a family event, where he and his kids showed pigs, Brahman heifers, and steers across the state of Texas. If anyone ever needed help, no matter what it was, he was always the first to lend a helping hand. He was involved in and volunteered at the Waller County Fair for several years; serving on the Entertainment and Steer Committees. Volunteering was a passion, for he served over 50 years as a Committeeman for the Open Hog and Commercial Steer Committees at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo earning Lifetime status. He never met a stranger and was loved by everyone he met. He was a man of great size, with a heart to match it.
He preceded in death by his parents Ralph & Dorothy Stokley. He is survived by his wife Cheryl Stokley; son Ralph Stokley and wife Kelly; daughter Jennifer Long; grandchildren Chelsey Adams (Hunter), Wyatt Schenck (Willow), Cheyenne Schenck, Jadyn Stokley, Keegan Stokley; great grandchildren Enola Schenck, Nora Mae Schenck, Waylon Schenck, Taven Adams; as well as numerous friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 5 - 7 pm. Funeral Services will be Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 10 am at Canon Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Fieldstore Cemetery. Celebration of life will follow the interment at the Waller County Fairgrounds in the Barbara Carpenter Building with lunch and drinks being served.
