Molly came in for her laser therapy session with Dr. Perkins and assistant Sheila, and as you can see, she’s in great hands!

Laser therapy is a gentle, noninvasive treatment that helps relieve pain and reduce inflammation. It is especially helpful for senior and geriatric pets living with arthritis. For dogs like Molly, it can mean easier movement, less stiffness, and more tail wags!

If your older pup or kitty is slowing down, laser therapy might be just what they need. Click the link 🔗 to learn more or schedule a consultation with our team!

We are always ready to give our patients the love and comfort they need when visiting us. Sometimes... they are there to hold us too. 😂

It’s true what they say, care goes both ways. And whether it’s a reassuring paw, a nuzzle at the perfect moment, or a perfectly timed lean-in, our patients have a way of knowing just what we need, too.

At AVMC, it's not just medicine; it’s a bond, and we’re lucky to feel it every day.

Happy Fourth of July from AVMC! While we celebrate with fireworks and fun, the Fourth of July can be stressful and even dangerous for our furry friends.

Here are a few ways to help keep your pets safe:

🔒 Keep pets indoors: Fireworks can trigger fear and escape attempts. Set up a safe, quiet space inside your home.

🎧 Muffle the noise: Use calming music, fans, or TV to mask outside sounds.

🆔 Secure ID tags and update microchip registration: Make sure your pet can be easily identified should they get out of the house or leave your outdoor event.

💊 Ask us about anxiety support: For nervous pets, calming options are available.

🔥 Keep pets away from grills and fire pits: Hot surfaces and flames are hazards.

🍗 BBQ Food Safety for Pets:
🚫 No bones- Cooked bones can splinter and cause serious injury.
🚫 No fatty scraps- Too much fat can lead to pancreatitis.
🚫 No onions, garlic, grapes, or alcohol- These are toxic to pets.
✅ Offer pet-safe treats instead: Frozen peanut butter, carrots, or vet-approved chews.

🎇 Leave pets at home: Fireworks shows and crowded gatherings can be overwhelming and unsafe for our pets.

Enjoy a safe and happy Fourth of July holiday! Just be sure your pets enjoy it safely too!

Tank stopped by the clinic for a nail trim and his Leptospirosis booster. At 198 lbs of pure love, he handled his pedicure like a pro and soaked up all the attention from the team.

It's important for dogs who love to be outside and make the most of summer sunshine to be protected against Leptospirosis. Your pet companions don't need to be lake or river dwellers- leptospira bacteria can be found in puddles and other small standing water spots!

Are you unsure if your dog is up to date with their Lepto vaccinations? Give us a call, and we can put you on the right track to ensuring your pup is protected and ready for their summer adventures! Let’s hear it for this gentle giant who is ready to explore!

Yuki visited Dr. Boyd with an upset stomach and wasn’t feeling quite like herself. She even skipped breakfast. But Dr. Boyd made sure her visit was filled with compassion, gentle care, and a few tasty treats to help her feel at ease.

Our stress-free approach is all about creating a calming and positive environment where pets feel safe, loved, and cared for every step of the way. Just ask Yuki! She loves visiting the team and feels at home whenever she visits us!

Between wine country weekends and summer travel, pets are on the move just as much as we are. Visitors from neighboring counties or states may bring dogs with heartworms, and it only takes one mosquito bite to spread them.

Even local pets who stay put can be exposed.

Heartworm is serious and potentially fatal, and while there’s no approved treatment for cats, there is one powerful tool for all pets...prevention.

Let’s keep Walla Walla’s pets safe, no matter where this summer takes you.

At Associated Veterinary Medical Center, we’re proud to continue expanding our team of compassionate, skilled professionals who share our commitment to exceptional care. That’s why we’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Laura Beth Wick to the AVMC family.

For Dr. Wick, caring for animals has always come naturally. Surrounded by pets growing up (including a turtle named George), she was drawn early on to the power of the human-animal bond. That connection continues to fuel her passion for veterinary care today.

A 2013 graduate of Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Wick is Fear Free Certified and Cat Friendly Certified. She brings a wealth of experience in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, including cranial cruciate ligament repair. She also has a special interest in geriatric feline care and is looking forward to meeting our feline friends here at AVMC.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Wick is enjoying settling into life in Walla Walla with her fiancé, Karl, her sassy senior pup Phoebe, and her two cats, Sullivan and Floyd. She’s happiest when mountain biking, backpacking, gardening, or enjoying a quiet cup of tea.

Please join us in giving Dr. Wick the warmest Walla Walla welcome as she begins this next chapter with AVMC. We’re so glad she’s here.

In Walla Walla, warm weather means more time near rivers, ponds, and puddles. But did you know these calm waters can carry Leptospira bacteria? This bacteria spreads through the urine of infected wildlife like raccoons, deer, and rodents, and it can live in still water, even if it looks clean.

Thankfully, there’s a vaccine to help protect your dog. If outdoor adventures are on your summer agenda, make sure your pet is protected from this potentially life-threatening disease.

Today we’re celebrating Bagheera’s Gotcha Day. His newly adopted parents brought him in after welcoming him home from Blue Mountain Humane Society.

We went over some of the important first steps when bringing home a new kitten-things like vaccines, testing for diseases that affect cats such as FeLV, FIV, and heartworm, and checking for internal parasites. We also talked about the different options for keeping curious kitties protected, whether they’ll be indoor explorers or adventuring outside.

Of course, Bagheera had his own priorities today. He was far more interested in supervising from the sink than anything else. 😉 We are so looking forward to starting this journey with Bagheera!

Say hello to our little sunflower, Caly! Sweet Caly was recently adopted from the Benton City Humane Society by her loving new family, and today she came in to establish care and get updated on her puppy vaccines.

Yesterday, her mom noticed she was licking at a spot on her leg that looked red and irritated. Without hesitation, they gently placed this adorable flower-shaped donut on her to help keep her from making it worse and it was exactly the right call.

While cones and donuts aren’t always a fan favorite for pets, they’re a simple and effective way to help promote healing and prevent further irritation. Caly handled it like a pro and had all of us smiling. What a lucky pup, and what a lucky family.

This beautiful girl was in for her routine wellness exam and updated vaccines with Dr. Campbell. Lilly knew all the best angles as she posed for her photos. Or maybe it was the treats in Dr. Campbell's pocket that inspired her to strike a pose?
