City Zoo was founded Sept 1, 1974 as a Lease Dept near the rear of the old Eastgate Country Store in Walla Walla. In 1976 we moved to a small strip mall across from Albertsons in Walla Walla Eastgate. We built and moved to our current location in the summer of 1984. From 1974 til 2003 Joanne Laufer and Ron Matthews were business partners along with other family members. This was a wonderful partn

ership, lasting some 29 years until Joannes retirement in 2003. In 2003, CITY ZOO PETS, L.L.C. was formed by Ron and Elaine Matthews as sole owners was sold to David and Kelsey Newby in 2020, a Walla Walla born couple who grew up with City Zoo. We are one of the oldest and most successful Pet Supply Stores in the Pacific Northwest, thanks to our wonderful customer following.....which we are so thankful for. The Zoo has been with our community through a lot, and is happy to have donated to many, many community groups, taken in surrenders and rehomes of every species we care for in store, and a few we don't when we were the best or only option. we have worked with quite a few events and charities over the course of our many years in business. We plan to be the valley's go to pet store for many more years! Our service is based on knowledge and hiring enthusiasts with the best health of your pet in mind, and a passion for the animals we keep!

UPDATE: This event is now full! There will be another one on June 23.

We have room for more cats at our Trap, Neuter, Return event coming up on Tuesday, May 26!

With the warm weather, community cats are out and about and will reproduce if they are not fixed.

If you know of a feral cat colony in your neighborhood that has not been caught and sterilized, now is a great time to get them in for the procedure.

TNR surgery days are offered once per month and are reserved for groups of five or more cats who are not friendly to humans. The cost is $10 per cat.

To sign up for a spot at this upcoming event, visit bluemountainhumane.org/tnr. BMHS can loan traps for catching the cats.

Together, we can humanely reduce overpopulation, prevent illness, and improve life for community cats across the Walla Walla Valley.

This is Macaron. He just found out what happened during his nap, and he has some questions.

Don't worry, Macaron, you'll be just fine! Fixing cats and dogs is a great way to keep them happy and healthy.

With the weather getting warmer, pets (especially cats) will be outside more and feeling extra πŸ’–affectionateπŸ’– toward the opposite s*x. This increases roaming, fighting, and population. It's important that we help them by spaying and neutering them.

At BMHS, we're here to help make that happen. Pet owners who qualify based on household income can take advantage of low-cost spay and neuter services, helping prevent unwanted litters. This helps pet owners avoid additional costs and helps BMHS further our goal of reducing pet overpopulation.

To learn more about our spay and neuter program, visit bluemountainhumane.org/spay-and-neuter or call us at 509-525-2452. βœ‚
