Two-by-Two Farm Small-scale farming in Frederick, MD offering pasture-raised rabbit, free-range chickens and ducks and hand-picked eggs.

We are small "backyard farm" just north of Frederick, MD. We raise heritage breed chickens and rabbits to help support attributes such as fertility, hardiness, and longevity. Our chickens and ducks are a mixed flock with regular and bantam hens. They are free-range and eggs, ranging from white, to brown, to blue, are hand-picked daily. Our meat rabbits are also pasture-raised in large yard pens. F

Lost a bantam to a late-night poacher but just went out to find another mama with two babies in tow this morning! That's two mamas with babies in two weeks. Have a duck, a goose and another chicken still sitting and waiting for their turn!

We've had an owl that has been visiting and killed a bird early Thursday morning. I found her and thanked the heavens it was an old hen and not a new layer. Saturday morning, I heard a commotion and went running to find that one of the young roos was missing. I found a pile of feathers under the tree he roosts in and after a thorough search of the yard and around the perimeter, another pile in the front yard. Hes a big boy so I was surprised I couldn't find a body. I expanded my search and found a third larger pile in the neighbor's yard but still no body. Well, in today's downpour, I went out to treat the birds to some veggies and who did I find? Yep! He is a little beat up, missing some feathers and shaking his head quite a bit but he's alive and hungry. He's secured a place in our flock for as long as he wants to be here. He selected his own name today. Meet Miracle!
