Aurora, a Muscovy, snuck into our attic and sat dutifully on 20-something unfertile eggs until I candled them and threw them out. I thought she may have been hatching mule ducks, but that wasn't the case. But even after I took the eggs, Aurora continued sneaking into our attic to sit on an empty nest, so I gave her wooden eggs and started a search for Muscovy ducklings. She is our only Muscovy now. We lost the others to a predator this spring when they started venturing out into the field. 😞 I know she's lonely. Muscovy and ducks are similar but different. Today, I brought home 5 Muscovy ducklings for her, and she accepted them right away and happily moved into a grow out pen with a little house.

I put more eggs than I usually do out in the egg stand today and included a dozen duck eggs. $4 a dozen. 2903 Washington Road (N 220), Waldoboro. There are also a couple bags of aged horse manure for $5 a bag out on a pallett beside the egg stand.

Dutch Hookbill ducklings. Nice little surprise as I went to leave for work yesterday. Had to catch all the little floofs and mom to put in a safe pen, then I had to climb under goose house to check for more floofs and found another floof and one starting to hatch, so in the incubator the egg went. I just had 4 days off, so naturally, they waited for a work day to make an appearance. Total with mom is 12, and number 13 is in the incubator. Sharing, not for sale.
