If you aren’t actively using the training your dog has,
of course it “isn’t working”.
If your dog wanted to eat your cat before their board and train they will probably still want to eat your cat when they get home.
But now they have the training that you use to make sure that doesn’t happen.
You have to keep them separated when you aren’t around.

You use the recall they learned in training to call them off the cat.
You put them in a “down” while you remove the cat.
Your dog is just a dog doing dog things. You’re the one asking them to be a person. It’s on you to teach them how.
