Dog Bite Prevention 🐾
There are lots of friendly, loving dogs—but it’s important to remember that any dog can bite. It’s not about the breed, but the dog’s individual history, behavior, and situation.
Why do dogs bite?
Dogs may bite when they are:
• Defending themselves or their territory
• Feeling scared or startled
• Protecting puppies, food, or toys
• Playing (nipping may seem harmless but can become dangerous if not managed)
Understanding dog body language is key
Since dogs can’t tell us how they feel, we need to read their signals.
Signs of fear or stress:
• Tail tucked between legs
• Ears pinned back
• Barking or excessive panting
Signs of fear or aggression:
• Growling
• Lunging
• Biting or nipping
Signs a dog wants to play:
• Lowered chest (play bow)
• Wiggly body
• Relaxed tail wagging
Being aware of these signals can help prevent bites and keep both people and dogs safe 🐶
And of course… here are some of our favorite furry friends 🐾💛
