Hellllloooo, world! 👋🐾

It’s me — Hansi! I’m a handsome 5-year-old German Shepherd, and I have some VERY exciting news: I’ll soon be looking for my forever home! ❤️

Here’s the most important thing you need to know about me:

I. LOVE. PEOPLE. 😍
Seriously. People are THE BEST. Belly rubs? Yes. Scritches? Absolutely. Hanging out with my humans? Sign me up!

Other dogs, though? Ehhh… not really my thing. So Aunty Sandy says I need to be an only child. Personally, I think that just means there will be more love, attention and treats for ME. 😇

I’m not quite ready to pack my bags yet because I had a little “procedure” yesterday — apparently something about being neutered. I’d rather not discuss the details. 😂 I need a couple of weeks to recover, but if you think I might be your guy, now is the perfect time to start the adoption process and request an application. Here's to the heroes of 9-1-1 - Human and canine. On this day, 25 years ago, I had traveled to L.A. for client meetings at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and was staying near LAX. My meetings that day were obviously canceled and anxiety was high. That night was eerily quiet with no air traffic over head, except for the military planes that were patrolling for our safety. My middle son, who had been attending college in Australia, had just flown in the evening before -- his flight landed in Honolulu 6 hours before the first of the Twin Towers was hit. I have been forever thankful that he was safe, and that he was not stranded in a foreign country when planes were diverted to the nearest country/airport. What do you remember about that day? I know one thing for sure. I will never forget.

Some of you may remember Ms. Maggie, a sweet German Shepherd who was found as a stray and brought to us - thin, malnourished and with a dry, brittle coat and significant skin issues. But it didn’t take us long to figure out that Maggie has a super power — making people fall head over heels in love with her. It took several months to get her healthy enough to be eligible for adoption, but when she was, she was blessed with the most amazingly wonderful forever family —- including a little brother named Chooch. Today her mama sent me this gorgeous picture of her. It’s hard to believe that this beautiful, healthy German Shepherd with the thick, glossy coat is the same girl who came to us thin, hungry, and hopeful all those years ago. Just look at her now!! Love ya bunches, Ms. Maggie! You’re a stunner!❤️ 🐾❤️🐾

🎶🎵Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday, Dear Sadie! Happy 10th birthday to you! 🎵🎶 We so love it when adoptive pet parents share pics of their special celebrations with us. Since being rescued, Sadie has filled out - her ribs no longer show. Her coat is now rich and glossy, and instead of being anxious and fearful, she’s now a beautiful, healthy, confident girl. Mahalo nui to her extraordinarily wonderful forever family. 🙏🥰🙏🥳🙏

I cannot say this loud enough or often enough. No matter how hard it may be, it’s so important to stay with pets as they cross the Rainbow Bridge - all the way to the end. They deserve no less…

I so love it when our pet parents send in pics of German Shepherds they have adopted from our shelter. Sadie and Chloe are living the life of Riley in their forever home… and are even making friends with the resident cats. ❤️🐈🐾

Please plan ahead and be sure your pets are microchipped or have current, legible ID tags, calming medications if warranted and are SECURED INDOORS BEFORE the fireworks begin. Fourth of July is when more pets go missing than on any other day.
