Avalo's Feline Hybrid and Exotic Sanctuary

Avalo's Feline Hybrid and Exotic Sanctuary We are a Non-profit Sanctuary home for domestic hybrid and small exotic felines. Today Avalo feeds, houses and heals over 350 domestic, feral and hybrid cats.

In 2013, Michelle Donlick Altmeyer developed a section of her 16-acre horse farm to create Avalo Cat Sanctuary, a 501c3 nonprofit organization caring for sick and homeless felines. Michelle’s deep compassion and tireless dedication keep Avalo going, but it takes more than love to pay for food, electricity, supplies and vet bills. Your help is needed to secure Avalo’s future as a place of hope and

sanctuary to kittens, adult cats and exotic felines. Visit the website to learn how you can support Avalo as a volunteer, through in-kind donations or financial donations via by check, PayPal or credit card: https://avalocatsanctuary.com/donate

Yesterday, we said goodbye to our sweet Oso, a beloved Bengal who had been a mascot for Avalo Cat Sanctuary for nearly 10 years.

Oso never met a stranger. He greeted every visitor with warmth, affection, and his gentle personality, helping countless people fall in love with the cats we care for. He was a true ambassador for Avalo and touched the hearts of everyone who met him.

His loss leaves a tremendous void, and he will be deeply missed by all of us, as well as by his feline companions.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful team at Sunset Animal Clinic for continuing to provide care for our cats, even while we still carry an outstanding balance for veterinary services. Your compassion and support mean more than words can express.

Our veterinary fundraiser will remain active for a few more days. If you would like to help us cover Oso's final medical expenses and ongoing veterinary care for the sanctuary cats, please consider contributing. Donations can also be made directly to:

Thank you for your kindness, support, and for helping us continue our mission of caring for special-needs, hybrid, and exotic cats. Oso's legacy of love will live on in every life we save.

Rest peacefully, sweet Oso. You were loved beyond measure. ❀️🐾

Who recalls Rune? Can you identify his Lynx species?

The four species within the Lynx genus are the Eurasian lynx, Canada lynx, Iberian lynx, and Bobcat. These medium-sized cats, recognizable by their short tails and tufted ears, are adept predators: Canada lynx target hares, Iberian lynx specialize in rabbits, Bobcats are opportunistic, and Eurasian lynx hunt deer.

Eurasian lynx are distributed across a broad geographic range including Sweden, China, Russia, and Pakistan. In their native South Carolina, Bobcats are protected, and their captivity requires a USDA license or professional rehabilitation status. Rune's meals include rabbit and squirrel treats in addition to his standard diet of chicken and quail.

Please donate to help us feed this magnificent cat!

The caracal can rotate each ear independently using 20 different muscles , more than any other cat on Earth , allowing it to pinpoint the exact location of prey by sound alone before making a single move.

It is the only wild cat capable of catching birds in mid-flight, leaping up to 10 feet vertically from a standing position and batting multiple birds out of the air in a single jump. These kits are born with their distinctive ear tufts already present , the only feature that identifies them as caracals from the very first day of life.
