North Fork Friends of Ferals - NFFoF

North Fork Friends of Ferals - NFFoF North Fork Friends of Ferals Inc, established in May 2021, is a 501c3 non profit cat rescue group, located on the North Fork of Long Island.

It is 100% all volunteer driven, and 100% of donations and proceeds benefit the cats we rescue. We rescue abandoned cats, trap, socialize and adopt out cats and kittens from the local area, and perform trap, neuter, return (TNR) services for feral cats in our area. We are also starting to set up a pet food pantry.

A few months ago, we got a call from a prior adopter, now going through a divorce, and needing the return her babies. Their original names were Figaro and Phantom, now Figaro and Frankie. They just had their first birthday and instead of celebrating, they lost their home, and their world came crashing down. They have been back with us in foster and are now searching for forever homes. While they do play together, and occasionally clean each other, they are not super bonded, so they could be adopted together or separate. They are sweet, loving, affectionate, curious and playful, and get along well with other cats.

We need to ensure that their next homes are their last.

Please share their heartbreaking story and help them find their new families.

All of Holly’s siblings have been adopted and she’s wondering if you can share her photo in hopes a family out there might see her picture and fall in love with her cute face, her beautiful white bib and her paint dipped toes.

She is in an active household with children and other cats.

She was rescued with 7 other kittens from a local home where her feeder was putting his house up for sale, and when sold, she would no longer have daily meals and have to fend for herself. Luckily she’s in an amazing foster home so that will never be her plight. She is, however, longing for a forever family of her own. Let’s do our best to find her just that!

This is our blind kitty, Ginger. She is so sweet and affectionate, and she gets around amazingly well. Aside from being blind, she is otherwise healthy, and she even plays with toy mice and other cat toys. She is looking for a forever home with someone as special as she is. Please PM us if you’re interested in giving her a forever home.

We are thrilled to announce that our recent post about Bing caught the eye of a local couple looking to add a new baby to their family, and he went to his forever home last weekend! Their furr babies are their children and he will have every cat toy, bed, and cat tree he could have ever imagined.

We thank them for choosing us and Bing to adopt!

Special thanks to Sam, Gonza, and family for fostering Bing until he found his forever family. Our fosters are the backbone of the rescue. Without them, these cats would be living outside and likely have very short life spans.

The rescue is in need of a manual pallet jack ASAP. If anyone has an older one laying around at work not being used, it would be great if we could get one donated, or for low cost.

National Volunteer Week this year is observed from April 19 through April 25. Established in 1974, this annual weeklong celebration in April shines a spotlight on the impact volunteers have on communities, encouraging service and honoring those who give their time, talent, and compassion.

Yesterday two of our NFFOF volunteers, Sherri and her daughter Abbie, went to Southold library to help teach a class about “what it’s like to be a cat.” Children were read a story from a cat book, made cat crafts, learned about the importance of foster families, and what else, met kittens!

We highlight Sherri, Abbie and their family as not only a foster family, but as teachers of the next generation about the love and care that our pets need and deserve. Their time, effort and patience is worth more than anything we can put into words.

Thank you ladies! ❤️

We have had zero inquiries on these two lovely kittens. They came to us over the winter prior to Christmas, hence their names. Holly is a grey and white female, and Bing (his buddy Crosby was adopted) is a tri-ticked unique grey tabby. They are approximately 7 months old, and can be adopted seperate or together.

Adoptions are at an all time low, please share these babies. They are very deserving of homes of their own. They are in an active foster home with young children and cats.

Paws are crossed!

Blues, male tabby, and Frank, male black, are from two different locations, but became the best of friends. Lucky for them we had an adopter looking for a solid black kitten, and after seeing this video of them, agreed to adopt his pal Blues as well.

Thank you Sherri, Abbie, Morgan and Shane for always having your doors open to fostering and being patient waiting for these boys to find a home.

Adoptions are still super slow, so we are very thankful that these two found their new forever family with a friend of ours.

If anyone is able to pick up two feral cats in traps from Southampton Animal Shelter, which is located in Hampton Bays, this afternoon, please let us know ASAP.

THANKS!

Adoptions have been sooooo slow lately, almost dead in the water. I don’t know if it’s just a bad time of the year, the economy, and the price of supplies, but we have so many kitties waiting for their forever families. Luckily for Nutmeg and Cinnamon their looks and fluffiness helped them find a forever home very quickly. These two female kittens were captured recently while we were doing a TNR (trap neuter return) job in Ridge. Luckily for these two ladies, they are off to the pampered life with a local animal loving family who will cherish them forever.

Welcome home, girls!
