Just an FYI....Includes WV. Not all deer are infected but this gives you signs to look for. Please beware. When in doubt, DON't EAT!

A fatal disease that affects the brains and spinal cords of deer, elk and moose has shown up in at least 24 states, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

As per the WVDNR:
Go BIG this fall during West Virginia’s archery and crossbow seasons

If you love the thrill of big game hunting, then you don’t want to miss out on West Virginia's 2017 archery and crossbow seasons for white-tailed deer, black bear and wild boar, set to open Saturday, Sept. 30.

Archery seasons in West Virginia provide months of quality hunting earlier in the season when game is more plentiful. Archery and crossbow deer and boar seasons will run Sept. 30 - Dec. 31. Bear archery and crossbow season is a split season (Sept. 30 - Nov. 18 and Dec. 4 - Dec. 31), except for Logan, McDowell, Mingo and Wyoming counties, where the season will be open Sept. 30 - Dec. 31.

As a reminder:
Before you head out to the woods, make sure you have a current West Virginia hunting license.
All additional deer archery stamps (RB for residents and RRB for non-residents) must be purchased before the start of the deer archery season.
Bear hunters must buy a Bear Damage Stamp (Class DS) in addition to a base license. (Nonresidents need a Class EE Bear Hunting License)
The wild boar archery and crossbow seasons are open in Boone, Logan, Raleigh and Wyoming counties. The season bag limit is one.

WVDNR's Electronic Licensing System makes it easy to purchase a license from any computer. Go to www.wvhunt.com to purchase and print your license, and you're set for a West Virginia hunting adventure!
