Sealy needs a home ASAP !
She is a HEART DOG 🌸💕🩷💕
⛔️She needs a foster home but ultimately a forever LOYAL home. She is being given up💔
🚨🚨⛔️she for certain needs at least a TEMPORARY FOSTER from December 23 to around noon on December 29⛔️🚨🚨
To place her in Boarding would be so detrimental to her.
(Her current mom will foster her, if we can’t find anyone else, until a home is found but we need a temp place 12/23 to 12/29 please!!)
House trained
Has not needed to be crated because she’s very good in the home.
August 2023:
We saved Sealy from living in a filthy pen in a dark barn. She was isolated there for TWO YEARS!
She lived in the country so she definitely was not accustomed to the sounds of the city/suburban life. SHE WAS COMPLETELY ISOLATED THOSE TWO YEARS!
She was placed in a foster home in Va Beach and was there for almost 10 months. During this time we SLOWLY introduced her to the world.
She ALWAYS has loved to ride in a vehicle. In fact, in the beginning she didn’t want to get out of it! She was slow to take to getting out and going to any new places, but in time, she made huge progress. “IN HER TIME”
We always kept her socialized with other dogs and she always enjoyed playing with them. She played with all different size dogs, from a Chihuahua to a Border Collie and some Labs. Never ONCE did she EVER show she did not like playing with them. She was always submissive and respectful.
Fast forward:
Then in July, what we thought was the most perfect home adopted her.
Her current mom is an extremely nice person so we don’t want any negative comments about her.
Before adoption:
One of the very first things that was told about Sealy was that she is not one of those dogs you can take out to restaurants and other pet friendly places because she is not ready. We even said we cannot promise she would ever feel comfortable doing that.
From day one many conversations took place explaining how in the beginning Sealy was afraid when going for a walk and LEAVES would blow by her and it would frighten her.
She was never taken to very busy places or loud places. She was only taken to serene areas to go for walks where we knew she wouldn’t be fearful. She slowly gained some confidence and was going to Tractor Supply, some pet stores and Home Depot. She was doing terrific but of course still needed a lot of guidance, patience and someone willing to go
AT HER PACE.
ALL OF THIS, EVEN IN MORE EXACT DETAIL WAS DISCUSSED PRIOR TO HER ADOPTION.
Not once were we told anything other than the nice perfect replies about how she had all the time in the world and she wouldn’t be pushed or pressured to do anything. Her new mom even hired a trainer right away because she wanted to give Sealy the right start.
Well to make a long story short ….. Sealy was being walked in a busy neighborhood that she did NOT feel comfortable walking in. She was bombarded with sounds, people and animals that scared her. There’s bikes, cars, lawn mowers, leaf blowers and other disturbing sounds and movements that were overwhelming her. She was justifiably on edge. Then a new strange dog would show up and it has been described that she reacted to all dogs she saw.
First of all, SHE WAS STRUGGLING with the new chaotic environment she was being walked in. (It’s called being over threshold)
Then expected to accept new animals. It was too much to expect of her.
We stayed in touch constantly and all we ever heard was what a MARSHMALLOW that Sealy was….. how incredibly gentle and sweet she was with the grandkids (a baby and a toddler).
Never did we hear anything negative other than the new things about her being “dog reactive” which at the time was bewildering to us.
So ….. in September we had mom and the volunteer, MAUREEN, that Sealy was SO bonded with, take Sealy over to see and play with one of the dogs she had played with many times. Mom got to see Sealy doing wonderful and enjoying playing with the other dog.
We thought this would put in perspective the difference of Sealy feeling very comfortable with her person (someone she knew well and bonded with) and being comfortable IN THE ENVIRONMENT she felt comfortable in.
This did not change things. She was still expected to walk in the neighborhood she was very obviously not comfortable in. We will disclose all the other information and details to anyone that is interested in this very sweet and wonderful girl.
SHE NEEDS TIME
SHE NEEDS PATIENCE
SHE IS AN ABSOLUTE DOLLBABY!
Her current mom LOVES HER but doesn’t feel like she can give her what she needs. DO NOT BASH HER. This is a nice person and we need people to focus on finding a new home for Sealy.
In all of the postings we did for her, prior to this adoption this past July, we always said she’s very dog friendly, and loved dogs, we also included videos of her playing with many dogs.
Now that she is being introduced improperly to dogs it is giving her negative experiences so we need her in a foster home so we can start all over again with her. She needs positive experiences again. Go look at all the videos of her playing with other dogs. She was with someone she completely trusted and in an environment she was comfortable in. That’s the difference!
Please contact us and meet her!!
We guarantee you will fall in love with her like everyone has that has ever met her!
