FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) used to be a diagnosis that broke cat parents' hearts. But today, the narrative is changing. Early detection, appropriate treatment, and regular monitoring are giving cats a real fighting chance at long, happy lives.

Check out this amazing visual guide to understand the signs, transmission, and forms of FIP. Whether you have a multi-cat household or a single pampered kitty, staying informed is one of the best ways to protect them.

Let's spread awareness and hope for FIP warriors everywhere! If you have walked the road of an FIP diagnosis and found a path to remission, please share your story below. Your words can bring comfort and strength to someone who is just beginning their journey.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Because of their courage, dedication, and selflessness, we enjoy the freedoms we have today. We are deeply grateful for those who gave everything in service to others.

As we spend time with family, friends, and the pets we love, let us take a moment to reflect on and remember the heroes who never made it home.

From all of us at Kitten Chaos Plus Cat Rescue, we thank and honor our fallen service members. ❤️🤍💙

Nothing is cuter than a human baby learning how to communicate…okay maybe a baby kitten learning how to communicate is cuter 🥰

🐾 The Definition of "It Takes a Village" 🐾

Meet Berry Sweet and Hera. They aren't related, and they weren't a bonded pair…just two young cats whose paths crossed at exactly the right moment.

When they arrived, both were just 5 months old and pregnant. Hera was early enough in her pregnancy that we were able to safely spay her, but sweet Berry Sweet was already too far along. At just 5 months old, still a kitten herself, Berry Sweet was about to become a mother.

What happened next is nothing short of a miracle. ❤️

Instead of keeping her distance, Hera chose to be by Berry Sweet’s side through every single step. She acted as a midwife during labor, comforting Berry Sweet through the birthing process. Since then, she has been the ultimate co-parent. Whenever Berry Sweet needs a break to eat or stretch her legs, Hera steps right in. In a beautiful twist of nature, Hera’s body even began producing milk so she could nurse and comfort the babies herself.

Together, this incredible duo is currently raising 10 beautiful kittens. It’s a blended family born from both love and heartbreak:

The Survivors: Berry Sweet gave birth to 7 kittens, but sadly, only 6 survived.

The Truckstop Miracle: One of the babies was found by a feeder at the Suffolk truckstop, freezing cold and crying alone in the grass. After waiting hours for a mother cat who never returned, they brought the baby to us.

The Fighters: The last 3 kittens are the survivors of a litter of 6 tiny tabbies who were brought to us deathly cold and far too young to be without a mom. Though we fought hard, we lost three, but these remaining three are thriving under the care of their two amazing moms.

Hera didn't just accept Berry Sweet's babies; she adopted the orphaned truckstop and tabby kittens right alongside her. Watching these two young cats form an instant, instinctual partnership to save 10 lives is a daily reminder of how resilient and beautiful animals truly are.

Two teen moms, ten lucky kittens, and one massive amount of love. 🐱✨

Suffolk Truck Stop TNR: Hope 🩶🤍

Meet Hope, a beautiful gray and white girl who will never have to face another pregnancy or raise another litter of kittens outdoors.

Like so many community cats, Hope's life hasn't been easy. But she is cared for by dedicated feeders who show up every day with food, fresh water, and compassion. They make sure the cats have shelter and are always looking out for their well-being.

Because of your support, Hope has been given a chance at a healthier, safer future. One spay surgery may seem small, but for cats like Hope, it changes everything and prevents generations of kittens from being born into a life of uncertainty.

Thank you to everyone who helps make this work possible. If you'd like to help us continue spaying and neutering cats in this colony, please consider donating:

*Possible trigger warning*

Rescue is not always sunshine and flowers…Kitten season is here, and rescues are seeing more and more newborn kittens being found outdoors, like the one pictured below. If you find kittens less than a week old, please remember: their best chance of survival is usually with their mother.

Before moving them, watch from a distance if the area is safe. Mom may be searching for food or even moving her kittens one by one and could still be coming back for them. The most important thing for newborn kittens is warmth. These babies cannot regulate their body temperature, and a cold kitten can fade very quickly. If they feel cold, gently warm them immediately using a heating pad on low, warm rice sock, or wrapped warm water bottle.

A few important reminders:
🍼 Never feed a cold kitten
🚫 Do not give cow’s milk, they make kitten formula. It can be found at pet stores and even Walmart.
🌡️ Keep them warm
📞 Contact a rescue or experienced neonatal foster for guidance

If the kittens are injured, crying nonstop, covered in fleas, cold, or mom does not return after several hours, they may need emergency help. Unfortunately, this little baby did not make it. It was too cold by the time it was dropped off to a pet store and when we were contacted.

Please share to help spread awareness during kitten season and give these tiny babies the best chance at survival.
