Hi Everyone, Zuba’s Mom here.
It is with a heavy heart and tear filled eyes that I tell you all that today I had say goodbye to our little Zuba. As you all know, Zuba has been fighting kidney disease her whole life. Although her kidneys went into full failure, her spirit stayed resilient and strong as it always has.
Zuba was an amazing dog, truly one of a kind. I’ll always describe her to people as my spicy velcro pup. Her favorite things were spending her afternoons romping around with her fur sister Nox, going to the dog park and playing catch, and lastly cuddling up in bed with me with her head on my chest as I gave her bed time scratches. She was a little girl, a whopping 44 lbs, but you’d never know that from her personality.
Zuba’s health declined very rapidly. So making the decision to put her to rest came very difficultly and unexpectedly. However I think it’s important to tell you all who have been involved from the time she was brought to SGSR, to the time I adopted her, and now to today, to know how she spent her final moments. Zuba was brought to the Virginia Beach Veterinary Hospital where she has received all of her treatment, and where she has always been treated with the utmost care. I called my good friend and her former foster-dad Chris, who was a huge part of her life, and my friend Brian who absolutely adored her and has been on record saying that he’s only friends with me so he can see Zuba lol. We gathered around our special girl, and held her and pet her. I could see relief wash over her face, she was with her favorite humans, as she slipped into a calm forever sleep.
Today was really hard, I feel so broken, but I get a sense of comfort knowing that she got to live her best life with me at her side. She knew in her final moments how loved she was, not just by me, but everyone who ever met my spunky little pup.
Thank you everyone for the support you have given throughout the years. Zuba will forever be in our hearts.
