Hours of operation are 9am - 4 pm Monday through Saturday, closed Sunday. You can contact the shelter during business hours at (812) 882-8826. After hours, in the event of an emergency, contact the Vincennes Police Department. Donations can be made at the following link:

Adoption fees are:

Adult Dogs: $110 which covers all shots, spay or neutering, heart-worm testing, de-worming, flea treatment, and microchip. Cats: $80 which covers all shots, spay or neutering, de-worming, flea treatment, and microchip.

Meet Mater! 🚜🐾

Just like his namesake, Mater is a little goofy, a whole lot lovable… and maybe just a tiny bit shy. At 3Β½ months old, this sweet boy has been growing up in foster care, where he’s learned that people can be pretty great. While he’s a little timid at first, give him a little patience and kindness, and you’ll discover a gentle kitten with a heart full of love.

Mater is ready to trade his foster home for a forever home. He’s got adorable kitten antics, a sweet personality, and plenty of purrs just waiting for the right person to bring them out.

Sometimes the quietest kittens have the biggest hearts. Could Mater be the missing piece of your family? ❀️

Today was a very special day for our shelter pups! 🐾🚌

We were honored to be part of the inaugural ride for Dog Go, an exciting new business dedicated to giving dogs fun adventures and enrichment. Our shelter dogs were the very first passengers to climb aboard the Dog Go bus for a ride around townβ€”complete with delicious pup cups! 🍦🐢

Watching their tails wag, noses sniff, and faces light up with excitement was something we’ll never forget. Experiences like this help provide enrichment, reduce stress, and let our dogs enjoy a little extra love while they wait for their forever families.

A huge thank you to Dog Go for choosing the Vincennes Animal Shelter for your very first trip. We wish you all the best as you begin this wonderful journey, and we know you’ll bring smiles to many dogs (and their humans!) along the way. Congratulations on your launch! ❀️🐾

🐾 𝐕𝐏𝐃 𝐏𝐄𝐓 πŽπ… 𝐓𝐇𝐄 π–π„π„πŠ 🐾

Meet EJ, a 5-year-old pup who’s looking for a patient family willing to give him the time he needs to shine. While EJ may be a little reserved when meeting new people, once he gets to know you, his playful, energetic personality quickly comes to life.

EJ loves a good game of fetch, enjoys going for walks, and takes pride in keeping his kennel clean. He would do best in a home that understands the importance of slow introductions and can provide him with the patience and consistency he deserves. EJ would need a meet-and-greet with any resident dogs before adoption, and a home without cats is recommended. His compatibility with children is currently unknown.

After spending 11 months waiting at the shelter, EJ is more than ready to find a loving family to call his own. If you think you could be the fresh start this deserving boy has been waiting for, stop by the Vincennes Animal Shelter to meet him. Together, we can help EJ find the forever home he deserves. 🐾

This week, we would like you to meet Sasha, a very special 6-year-old girl who is hoping for another chance at finding her forever home.

Sasha is blind, but that certainly hasn’t stopped her from having plenty of love to give. She is housebroken, wonderful with children, and finds comfort in her favorite stuffed animals.

Sasha needs to be the only pet in the home and experiences severe separation anxiety, making a patient and devoted family especially important for her.

If you have room in your home and heart for a loyal companion who simply needs a little extra love and reassurance, we encourage you to visit the Vincennes Animal Shelter and meet Sasha.
Sometimes the animals who need us a little more have the most love to give. 🐾

Did you know that spaying and neutering pets is about more than animal welfare? It's also a public health issue.
