🐴 Extreme Heat 🐴
With these Arkansas temperatures, the health and comfort of our horses are our highest priority. We wanted to let everyone know the extra precautions we’re taking during this heat wave.
At Brownstone Ranch, we are:
• 💧 Keeping water available at all times and checking water levels frequently.
• 🌳 Making sure all horses have access to shade throughout the day.
• 🌬️ Using fans and maximizing airflow in the barn.
• 🧂 Providing electrolytes to help replace minerals lost through sweating.
• 🌅 Adjusting feeding and turnout schedules to the cooler morning and evening hours when possible.
• 👀 checking all horses for any signs of heat stress or dehydration, including excessive sweating, rapid breathing, lethargy, or loss of appetite.
Heat can be dangerous for horses, and what seems like a normal summer day can quickly become a health emergency.
Thank you to our boarders for trusting us with your horses. We treat every horse here like they’re part of the Brownstone Ranch family, and we’ll continue doing everything we can to keep them safe, healthy, and comfortable during this extreme heat.
