With our acting admins juggling work and summer commitments, the community's response to support timely postings has been nothing short of amazing. Two diligent daily park users have come forward to keep everyone in the loop about workdays, mowing (mostly on Fridays), closures, lost items, and other park news, all of which contribute to a safer park environment.

Natures remarkable ability to revive and thrive is a testament to the transformative power of resilience. As we observe the reemergence of Milkweeds. Black-eyed Susans, Sumac and Grey Dogwood, and the slow but gradual regrowth of trees, we're reminded that even in these challenging times, there is always potential for renewal and growth.

As I stroll through Prairie Moraine, the familiar phrase "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" echoes through my mind. Nowhere is this more evident than at Prairie Moraine dog park, where volunteers have invested their time and effort to ensure an overwhelming abundance of parsnip, poison ivy, burdock, and honeysuckle. While they instead envision a pot of flowers.
Our management plan is failing. We have been mowing for over 9 years, soaking the area in herbicides, but the only things that have been successfully removed are the trees, allowing invasive species to thrive. Park users are begging to reach out to those with knowledge before it is too late.

This was brought up in the private group Prairie Moraine Dog Park Friends. Does anyone know what the blue green substance is that was sprayed around the fences near the tower at Prairie Moraine Dog Park? There was no signage and park users are wondering what it is and if it is toxic to dogs. Dane County Parks??

Could someone refresh my memory regarding the unfortunate incident involving a volunteer's dog that passed away at the age of 2 due to a rare cancer and was laid to rest in the pollination garden? I recall that 3 other volunteers withdrew when their dogs fell ill. There has been considerable discussion about the herbicides introduced in the park in recent years.
