UP FOR ADOPTION - MONET! Do you love watercolors? You'll appreciate Monet's amazing watercolor-esque coat! He's a beautiful, handsome Akita that we believe is about 3.5 years old! His story is odd indeed, though. He was picked up at our old CLOSED location in the sally port enclosure!! We don't know how long he was there, but we're sure glad ACO picked him up!

What we've observed about this supremely handsome fella is that he is calm, gentle, well-mannered, housetrained and extremely treat motivated! We haven't tested him with dogs yet, but happen to know he lived with another Akita after someone found ads on Craigslist trying to sell this poor guy and, yup, there was another pup with him! We don't know about kiddos or kitties, though! Monet's story doesn't have to be a sad one, however. He's available for you to adopt and love forever, which is exactly what this brawny fella needs! Monet is a work of art! Come visit him in all his glory on our Dog Adoption Floor any time we're open!

These babies are bonded after finding solace with each other in the shelter environment! Both of these kitties were originally slated as Barn Cats β€” we weren’t sure either would warm up to humans! Henrik (male, buff tabby) came around first and charmed the pants off of all the staff with his goofy personality! Maitreya (tortie) was a little slower to come around. Our resident cat lady thought these two could help each other, so we put them together and HENRIK eventually had Maitreya asking us for pets! They’re not ALL the way there, but well on their way and are looking for a home that will keep these two together! You can visit them in our Free Roam Room any time we’re open!

DOUBLE TAKE -- are these the same pups?? NOPE! Meet Shadow & Raider, likely father & son! They came in together with one other pup (King) who has since been adopted. Basically, you can look at Shadow to see how Raider will be in another 5 years, a fast-forward through time!

Raider, 5 y/o: GREAT with other pups, most likely kiddos & cats as well! He's "mature," but not old and not young! He's a sweetheart with a happy-go-lucky personality! Adoption fees are $175!

Shadow, 10.5 y/o: SENIOR -- He's in a foster home (whose foster mom happens to be writing this post) and if you don't fall in love after glancing at that adorable face, we don't know what will. He's perfected the puppy dog eyes. Heck, he could win an Emmy or an Oscar with his performances!! Shadow is absolutely wonderful in every way. Calm yet playful, completely housetrained, only barks when he's outside and wants inside (and at intruding bats -- yikes!), go-with-the-flow, ultra snuggly, great with other dogs AND cats AND kids. BASICALLY, he's PERFECT! He lives up true to his name and does, indeed, follow your around like a little shadow. He's got a senior discount! Fees for any senior pup 8+ y/o are only $125!

There you have it -- two extremely well socialized pups up for adoption who could blend SO well into so many loving homes.

Y'all - ARTEMIS IS STILL UP FOR ADOPTION! She's been with us since APRIL of...2025! She's had her DNA test done from Embark Vet , swim lessons with the Augusta K9 Center, AND....FULL OFF LEASH & OBEDIENCE TRAINING from the Complete Canine, a highly reputable dog trainer!! She's completely neutral around kitties & kids, and does get along with other pups! She's been trained, she's been spayed, she's been cared for and vetted...All she needs now...IS YOU!
