Animal rescue is built on people who give pieces of themselves away every single day. The sleepless nights. The emergency phone calls. The tears shed behind closed doors. The heartbreak of losing some and the overwhelming joy of saving others.

To our team, board members, volunteers, fosters, veterinary partners, and supporters: thank you. Thank you for carrying the weight of lives that were never yours to carry, yet choosing to do it anyway.

You are the reason scared dogs learn to trust again. You are the reason abandoned animals find safety. You are the reason thousands of lives have been rewritten with love instead of suffering.

The dogs may never know your names, but they know your kindness. They know your gentle hands, your patience, your sacrifice, and your love.

Meet Simba, a fluffy French Bulldog who was found dumped and never reclaimed. Despite everything he’s been through, Simba is safe and on his way to us.

Simba has a temporary foster lined up, but he is still in need of a long term foster or adopter. Once he arrives, he will be seeing the vet for a full medical evaluation so we can determine exactly what he needs and get him on the road to recovery.

Strays and Second Chances is Legacy of Love 805’s program in Ventura County, California where veterans and formerly incarcerated individuals rescue and rehabilitate dogs pulled from high kill shelters, and find their own healing along the way.

A dog who has never been shown kindness. A person who has never been given a real chance. The world looks at both of them and decides they are too far gone.

We disagree.

This is a volunteer hybrid pathway to real paid employment for select individuals who are ready to show up, do the work, and discover what it feels like to matter to an animal who needs them just as much as they need this.

We are currently applying for grants to sustain this program long term. In the meantime we need your help. Our goal is $50,000 to fully fund Strays and Second Chances for our first year covering participant wages, veterinary care, and daily rescue operations.

Every dollar goes directly to the program. Every dollar changes two lives.

🚨 FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED FOR PRINCE 🚨

Prince is officially safe after being rescued from euthanasia, and now he’s looking for the next chapter of his life.

This adorable 3-year-old Boston Terrier mix is neutered, up to date on vaccines, playful, affectionate, and ready to find a family of his own. Prince can live with another dog, but he does need to be fed separately at mealtimes.

Like many Boston Terriers, Prince can be a bit of a flight risk, so a securely fenced yard is a must. He also has a habit of chewing up beds, so he does best living a bed-free lifestyle or only having access to a bed when supervised.

Prince is currently safe in Ventura, California, but he needs a long-term foster or adopter to help him finally settle into a loving home.

🚨 URGENT FOSTER NEEDED 🚨

Well… I guess Legacy of Love 805 is rescuing cats now. 😂

This tiny black kitten was dumped and left to fend for itself. Thankfully, it’s safe with us, but we urgently need a foster home where this little one can feel loved, secure, and cared for while we figure out the next steps.

Black cats and kittens are often overlooked, but this baby deserves the same chance at a happy ending as every dog we’ve ever rescued.
