We have two covered, lighted arenas, a dressage court, an enormous jumping arena and a large and small round pen. We also have miles of private trails and a mini cross-country course. Our resident trainers include Patrice Vernand (ranch riding & western disciplines https://www.patricevernand.com), Gail Hoff-Carmona (dressage trainer and judge http://www.losalamosdressage.com/), Suzanne Galsterer (

dressage) and Kristi Troyna of MCRC Equestrian (English/Western, kids program, beginners through advanced, lesson horses. www.mcrcequestrian.com ). All boarders must go through an application process to be accepted to board, which contributes to the peaceful and happy environment. Our feral barn kitties are not very feral anymore. This is Nick (Saint Nicholas) and Noel, whom, as you might have guessed, came to us shortly before Christmas last year. Nick, the orange one, will come right up and cuddle and get pets. The only thing he doesn’t really love is being picked up or sitting in laps, but he very politely excuses himself and does not overreact. Noel will come up but no touching allowed. They are staples around our large covered arena. That is their preferred hangout and they enjoy watching lessons.

This is my retired old man, my heart horse for 24 years, who is living out his days out on acres and acres with a herd. At 17.2 hands, he’s a big boy and he was always a bit of a baby and pampered barn puff his whole life. I wasn’t sure he would be able to live in pasture, but after a bit of an adjustment, he is living his best life. I had to let go of what he looked like when he was riding fit and get used to the idea that now he has a retired, old man pasture body, but he is so happy! 🥹 If you’re thinking about trying the pasture out for your retiree, it’s worth it!

We’re all really enjoying the fabulous riding weather these days. The sky has been gorgeous, as well.

If you are looking for a retirement pasture, now is a great time to get a horse acclimated before the rains when the grass gets lush. We have an amazing herd with all personalities and ages that live on acres and acres and acres, so that they have room to form sub-herds and hang with their own best buddies. We are also a full service boarding facility and currently have a rare spot in our large pipe corrals. Located in a private canyon in Ventura, CA, we can be your backyard getaway. Pasture board is $475 per month and includes feeding hay when the pasture is dry. Full rates for all boarding options and services are on our website or you can contact us for more info.
