Nathan Winograd has published a new article on Bruce’s case.

He examines the legal efforts still underway, the County’s threat of sanctions, and the humane resolution SPARC continues to pursue.

At the center of the article is a question that remains unanswered:

Why kill Bruce when a safe, permanent rescue sanctuary is willing to give him the stability and care he deserves?

Bruce remains protected by a federal preservation order while SPARC continues pursuing its claims in state and federal court. SPARC maintains that it was never given notice or an opportunity to assert its contractual and property rights before the County ordered Bruce killed.

Nathan also highlights the work of SPARC’s state court counsel, Dan Bolton of the Walter Clark Legal Group.

Dan has defended SPARC’s right to be heard, challenged the County’s threat of sanctions, and repeatedly offered to meet with County officials to pursue a resolution that saves Bruce’s life, complies with the law, and avoids unnecessary litigation. Those overtures have not been accepted.

We are deeply grateful to Nathan for continuing to shine a light on Bruce’s story—and to Dan and the Walter Clark Legal Group for continuing to stand with SPARC and Bruce.

This has never been a choice between compassion and community safety.

Both can be achieved.

There is no public benefit to killing Bruce.
